lonely preppers!!
Re: lonely preppers!!
The only person I talk to about it is my 13 year old - she has no choice but to be on board Other than that no one - I'm greyer than grey I come on here to swap ideas, get tips and to reassure myself that I'm not the only one thinking this way!

I've been upgraded from nutter to weirdo" where's your tin foil hat", when she opened a parcel to see a 24hr ration pack!
Why can't I be just accepted for what I believe is right!

We live in a unsustainable world, there must be a balance, poor people/rich people no more, only prepared people will make it!
Re: lonely preppers!!
I'm in a similar way to a lot of people here. I'm not an extreme prepper but have a stash of dried food, drink etc. This is just extra 'stock'. Water purifiers, tents, sleeping bags and other equipment is for 'camping'. Gas heater, paraffin lamps, medical packs etc is 'just in case'.
The wife does ask if We need so much stuff but doesn't complain as I buy it.
She refers to doomsday preppers as loosers / saddos / whatever.
However We have had a power cut and water shortage recently so I'm ready for them

Sarajevo during the siege if you read the linkyjunmist wrote:WHAT!!! you can swap people for corn beef where whereIn the Dark wrote:You can always trade them in for a can of corned beef if SHTF

I was making the point that you could replace the wife for some corned beef later if necessary but making
the serious point the fact that: it doesn't matter what your other half thinks,
if what befell those people in Sarajevo occurred here every morsel of food would be a Godsend.
As someone once said Noah built his ark before it started to rain.
I guess the folks in Bosnia never thought anything could happen to them either & would have scoffed at storing food
Re: lonely preppers!!
My good lady thinks I'm completely bonkers, but leaves me to it. I can't talk to her about it, she gets angry if I do. She has a very strong normalcy bias and is particularly hard headed so it will take something dramatic to change her mind. I've decided that I will just keep quiet, stay grey and keep prepping. One day when the SHTF I know I can take care of her, knowing that is a great motivator as well as a being very comforting.
Re: lonely preppers!!
thanks to all for your repleys, and for those that made me laugh too. a sussex meet up would be good, im just outside brighton so keep me posted if someone gets one going. as for prepping withno partner support i guess i do what makes me feel safe and include enough stuff for my partner too. i can live with that.

Storm. Great news that your partner has gotten on board with the preps. Guess it just took a while for the idea to hit home properly.
All the best.

Storm,
Its good that your SO is now coming on board.
Mrs CG had taken an interest in what I was doing but like you let me doing what I was doing however as in my post, Ive just been diagnosed with a medical issue that means we are moving back with her parents partially due to the fact we will be down to one income so Mrs CG's eye's have been opened now and she realises that things are not like in doomsday preppers (TEOTWAWKI/nuclear war etc) but more for lack of employment, poor weather etc.
It has taken a while for Mrs CG to get on board but it takes time, so start of with the small things and who know's we may have another prepper on the boards.
