I'd think you would be a lot safer just quietly digging a cellar room under the house with a very hidden hatch, and keeping it prepped with plenty water and snacks.
That is very hard work but also a sensible idea, if I actually wanted to stay in this house then I would act on that one.
I have a strategy, it's not written in stone, nor can it be, this scenario has too many variables, everything about it depends on those variables, being specific is not possible.

After I've boarded the windows over with wood followed by corrugated iron sheeting on the outside? I also have numerous fire extinguishers.

It's all about increasing your chances, we could go back and forth all day with the "I'll do this" then "Well, I'll then do this" and so on. I just want to better my odds :)

But if you are trying to enter a property to get supplies or for shelter, then it seems a pointless exercise to burn it to the ground...

Yes that's the healthiest mindset regarding prepping/surviving, just doing whatever we can to get the odds in our favour without becoming obsessive about it. We make our own luck, right Kid?

My plans are to do what James and Lucky Jim suggest..

If law and order are gone then We will attempt to make our house look looted from the outside, whilst making the inside much more secure..
Im thinking there will be no need for many electrical items.. so they will be battered and scattered around the front of the property, along with a few bags of old clothing, books, dvds etc, creating obstacles, Smash a couple of windows and board up, spray paint some graffitti and maybe burn out a car and drag in front of drive..

If this isnt working...

Then string up a body or two!!

We are quite rural but near enough to a town that eventually ppl would come wandering.. hopefully in that short gap we could organise the villiage to defend itself, theres only one road in and out.. with one end a bridge over the Motorway.. We can easily block vehicles from coming thru.. Only issue is a lot of the residents are elderly but i reckon they would put up as good a fight as i would!!

No prizes for guessing where the bodies would come from to 'string up' then! :o

None are guaranteed to burglar-proof our properties of course, but any crook with an ounce of brains would be deterred and go break into some other poor shmuck's place instead..;)

The pic in your post says it all. As an owner of a German Shepherd I wouldn't swap mine (Wolf) for all the barbed wire, electric fencing , crossbows and any other kind of crazy home made "security" systems imaginable.

I have some thick perspex sheets that can be bolted to the exterior & interior of my windows, which still allows them to be opened should the need for an emergency evacuation due to fire be necessary. I could also then board up the interior with plywood if needed. I have steel bars that can be mounted across the front and back doors, and secured to the walls either side to make them as difficult as possible to breach. I've also been looking into a way of permanently locking my letter box shut, to prevent petrol being poured through and set alight.

The tops of my back yard walls have trellis fitted with carpet grips which would prevent anyone ripping them down bare handed, and the walls are quite high from the entry side, but not impossible to climb over, and there are alley gates. This is where the two very large German Shepherds come into play in a preventative measure. Considering I grow food, and have water storage in my back yard, this is the weakest point in my security, and the most likely target from my neighbours. I may invest in some reels of razor wire should I need to secure the walls further.

Luckily there would be at least three fully grown men, and two German Shepherds in the house to defend it. There are three floors and a basement, so the basement is used for storage for normal life, but if SHTF then I would move as much of my supplies up to the top floor which is the final defendable area, and as suggested earlier I would use the stairs as a bottle neck to deal with intruders more efficiently. There is a skylight in the top back bedroom which is sealed shut, but would be used as an emergency exit point should the house become undefendable, or if it were set alight. Getting off the roof would be as simple as either abseiling down the walls, or more likely entering a neighbours home through a skylight.

My only major concern would be securing the cars which we would eventually need when we were to bug out. I would have crook locks fitted, and both cars have immobilisers so they probably couldn't be started without the keys. I would just hope that they wouldn't be burnt out. Considering my house is in a cul de sac, the only reason someone would enter in that situation would be for looting.

Living out in Germany fireworks are a massive thing at New Year. So... If I bought a few spare would they come in handy in any way shape or form can anyone think?

As kids I remember making home made grenades with bangers that were fricking lethal
