Wow, big stuff GB. Thanks for sharing something so deeply personal with us. My best mate had a hard enough time coming out to his parents (staunch Catholics) when he was younger, but I guess it must be even harder when you have an established family life.
I wish you the best of luck.
Makes me think though - how many of us think of the emotional and personal side of prepping?...
Out of the closet before the shtf
Re: Out of the closet before the shtf
Well here we are 1 year on. Its been strange and sometimes very stressful.
But the wife and I are still together and optimistic about our near future. Have not told the kids yet but that can wait until they are older. Told me Mam and she was more than surprised and a little confused that she didn't know (bless her) but she is fine with it.
Still prepping hard and the kids are totally on board learning skills for the future as they realise life is going to be different for them and/or their kids.

Wow, that took some real balls. Massive respect to be able to go through this.
It must be so hard for young gay people to come out to their parents, but to be in an established marriage, with kids is something else completely.
I think you've both done the right thing by your children too, it's always difficult for the kids, but I can't think of a better way than what you've done.
Hope you find what you're looking for

Big Respect to you GB for getting that out in the open
It took a lot of courage to do that, I can only imagine how much you must have wrestled with that decision, but at least all concerned now know where they stand, and you can concentrate on your Preps without that dark cloud dominating your thoughts.

Seems to be a lot of respect going out there... I suspect it's because nobody wants to be seen to be any different. PC and all that.
I'd like to convey my absolute disrespect to you. You have a wife; who you are still with - weird. Anyway, maybe you should have sorted out all your personal stuff before getting married. And you haven't told your kids??? I believe somebody mentioned something about courage earlier.... whatever.
And before anybody starts, I'm not scared of gay people, nor do I dislike them.

Kick a man when he's down why dont you!!!
Courage I said, and Courage He Has, not only for confessing his sexuality to his wife& family but also for having the Balls to open up to the other Members in open Forum here.
Shame on you!!! What a thoughtlessly cruel, dispicable, and unfeeling sentiment, which might certainly make him feel not accepted here anymore

Balls? Really? By typing a post in an online forum... And yet didn't have the courage to be honest right from the start. The decent people of the world go about their lives being honest with their loved ones from day 1.
Shame on me?! SHAME ON YOU FOR PRAISING THIS FARCE!
And as for making anybody feel unaccepted, that's not my intention. But nobody should expect to post something in a forum - effectively entering into the public domain - then complain when a different opinion is met. I'm entitled to my opinion just as you are.
