beyondthebeatentrack wrote:Hi guys, read this thread with great interest and have to agree that it appears that £100 for 19 x 24 Hour ration packs is a great deal. However, I want to add a different angle if I may please:

I work for the company that currently holds the supply contract to the UK Armed Forces for their Operational Rations and we are the SOLE worldwide license holder to sell the rations commercially.

Each and every ration we sell donates a £% back to the Armed Forces for their use in other areas. Therefore, any unauthorised sales actually cost the MOD money, and I am constantly reading that the soldiers don’t have enough money for protective clothing during operations - so who gets the rough deal in this transaction?

The goods you have purchased are stolen - fact. You might have guessed this when you received them and saw 'MOD Property' 'Not for re-sale' on them. Therefore, the fact that you managed to get stolen goods at a discount price, and then thought it was prudent to advertise the fact, greatly concerns me.

The rations you have bought were made many years ago and I can assure you that the maximum shelf life is only 3 years - you will not get wet rations with a longer shelf life. Therefore your supplier has scant care for your health and subsequently, you have scant care either, if you willing to sell on 'just a few'

In view of the information above, we are constantly on the look out for culprits that either buy or sell stolen sold rations and we will be asking the CID to approach the authorities for the contact details of Trish52 and of John 1788 so that we can instigate prosecutions.

I have now finished my rant.

You can buy them from the uk makers

Guys, many thanks for your responses. Not sure I merit being called a 'twat' but there you go.

I agree the prices for the stolen ones (and believe me, they are stolen) are cheaper than the ones we sell. However, I do have a valid point about the legality and a reasonable point that each sale that is made via anywhere but us, does cost the Army money. The argument that the Army lose money anyway, is not really a justifiable response either. Some people do things, so it is Okay for us all to do it?

I take the note about the Garibaldi - unlikely I'm afraid but I will feed that info back to the Development team. Also about the Mars bar, but this is very unlikely since Chocolate is pretty much removed from the main boxes due to melting etc - that said, we do have a range which contains Yorkie.

Please feel free to give me any feedback I deserve - we all have the right to free speech. That said, I don't abuse you, and wouldn't expect abuse back. Indeed, I am a pretty decent guy if anyone cares to make contact.

cheers

Well, I'm not sure what you were expecting, after you threatened individuals with prosecution!

Why have you joined this site?

You'd be just as well off with homemade oatcakes or seed & nut bars plus multivit pills.

I joined the site as I have a genuine interest in rations and outdoor pursuits. My attention was also drawn to the article about the stolen MOD rations as there are a number of authorities who search these sites etc for culprits.

If anyone has a genuine comment about the Official British Army Rations, I will definitely take to the team for consideration.

However, please don't ask me to turn a blind eye to those that buy stolen goods to the detriment of hard working soldiers.

Thanks

Let's not get embroiled in any more arguments please. There is more to prepping/life than british army rations and we dont need threatened by TPTB, we have enough of that to contend with in daily life  A serious prepper needs to learn an awful lot more than how to reheat MREs - so let's all get on with that now as time seems to be growing short!

hi i am going to put my point of view on this matter forward,

It is fairly obvious that the items were on here were stolen it does not take Sherlock Holmes to work that out and theft is theft even if you buy without knowing they were stolen you can still face goods being taken off you,

The morale of this if you do get a deal like that don't put it on a internet forum site you are asking for trouble, just another thing it is so brave for someone to call someone a twat over the internet.

Please do not post any further statements threatening our members. If you have an issue, I suggest you take it up with those who are supplying the goods to members of the public. You say you have a genuine interest in rations and outdoor pursuits, yet you have not contributed anywhere other than this thread, and that was to threaten members with prosecution and visits from the CID. No wonder you've upset folk. If you want to get involved as an active member of the forum then do so in a positive way. If not, then you may want to move on.
