Re: Recent Snow - what have you learnt?
Only thing I nearly ran out of was washing up liquid ,and I wouldn't said its hit hard, what we had today's has melted,I'm fuming I could done with kids at school so me an wife could drive to tetbury to collect her new car.
Re: Recent Snow - what have you learnt?
Ha, we have been cursing our own cat for pooping on our lawn until we caught the cat from a few doors up unloading it was mid job so just turned round and stared until finished then ran off the little git!!
I've realised I'm not prepared for snow! i've got a small 2 seater rear wheel drive car and im sick of wheelspinning and sliding all over, next car will not be rear wheel drive and have better road clearance, not sure I need a 4x4 though for a few days snow.
I need to finish my car preps for my car and my girlfriend's, so far - emergency foil blanket, Car blanket folding shovel, snacks and sweets, wind up torch and that's it so far its a start anyway i'll check the other good threads for what I need.
I think the media blow things out of all proportions causing panic buys just shows how many people don't have decent stocks of food that could last even a week or so ? My staff are always scared to death they won't be able to get home because of the snow or should I say forecasted snow..Not that much here.
Also the general public are pretty poor when it comes to driving in snow be it spinning on the spot until the engine burns!! Also driving way too fast they obviously don't know what its like to lose control those that have understand how easy it is to happen and almost impossible to get back in control. In snow or rain..

Re: Recent Snow - what have you learnt?
This may just be me but every where i go is busy, people have changed the routines because of the snow. I go to the shops on a weekday i am in and out i use self checkouts so i don't have to wait or speak to any individual but now massive checkout lines even on self checkout. Where do these people come from, what were they usually doing on a weekday most are just buying little bits of shopping what happened to make this occur.
I like to walk in woods its usually peaceful especially in past winters there is no one for miles but this year its full of people walking dogs and such, where did they come from did they decide now its snowing its a good idea to walk their little dogs its madness.
So i've learnt that snow makes people change their routines making them spend more in general doing more shopping and other activities. Winters used to be a solitary time i miss that, all i see is footprints reminding me i am surrounded by people.

My neighbour does not have enough to get through 1 day! Hmmm, I'll keep very quiet about mine then!
I hate driving in the snow.

Re: Recent Snow - what have you learnt?
Hmm what have I learnt Well I have learnt that not everyone who has a 4x4 can drive the things Traction control on the car is no fun (yeap I love driving on ice) and while my mother lives with me I need an alturnative heating surply but other wise the weather did not make any difference to me.

Re: Recent Snow - what have you learnt?
The old Volvo 340/360 was a great car for the snow as gearbox was on back axle,so had quite a good weight distribution,
Try more weight over your drive wheels ,you can always take it out if it don't work
