I will be moving in a couple months to a house that has been recently burglared so am on the look out for ways to get it secure. On top of the other things mentioned earlier I would also add either a cctv camera, a small one or a motion picture camera (takes photos when motion detector picks up something). The motion picture camera runs off batteries and can be placed anywhere you like.
Oh - I would also get another dog.... one for each leg

Hello Technik
Trying to talk OH into another one, now we have a good excuse!
Good luck with your move, and get your place secure as soon as you can, I have a feeling things will get worse in UK as far as crime goes....

Re: Intruder
My neighbours house was broken into that they had PIR lights on outside - I would suggest spacing the lighting so the garden is lighted when the PIR comes on and not necessarily too close to the door lock so they can get a good view and pick it.
I also rig my back and front doors even though they are double glazed, so if any intruder get in (which will take them a while even after picking the lock, there is enough noise so I can be suitable alerted to defend myself and call the police.
Also this company called Crime Prevention Products http://www.c-p-p.co.uk
has a huge range of products for the home that can raise the alarm weather an intruder is looking to get into a house or shed.

Re: Intruder
Some great ideas in this thread, flood lights are just a good idea as a whole as it allows you to see where your dogs are at night, anti climb paint on top on any walls is also good. I have a caucasian shepherds, I'd recommend the breed to anyone looking for a naturally aggressive dog that is extremely loyal.

Terrier..... Its not the size of the dog in the fight, but the size of the fight in the dog
Spikey plants...Check
Wappy trellis.... Check
Lights (PIR or otherwise).... Check
Alert neighbours...Check
Make a huge fuss of your household wolf...Check
Looks like you're pretty much there.... Make sure you tell the Coppers and you're GTO
BTW keep a torch by both doors, don't use them for anything other then as 'Security Torches' that way you're not hunting for one when you need it
If it happens again remember the second* weapon you need...... The phone
We're Preppers, we should be prepared
*First weapon is the torch

My terrier does a good job, only now she thinks she has to protect me from everyone....
Now have a good light on the back, hope everyone else is keeping their security up, I think we will need it...
Thanks all
