The spec of a Samsung RSH5UBMH states an annual consumption of 441kWh/yr, equiv. to 1208w/day. A long way short of the 6408w/day estimate above.

Granted, the freezer is 30 litres smaller and there's no fridge, but you could have 3 of these kits for £4280! Read through the pages at the following link which do a really good job of explaining (in relatively simple terms) how to design a solar system - I'm in no way connected to the site, but have found it to be a good source of info; I'm sure there are 00's of others.

Read my post again. I qualified that - "...the freezer is 30 litres smaller and there's no fridge...".poppypiesdad wrote:Its not a fridge freezer
The figures i used are Samsung's.poppypiesdad wrote:You need to take into account the power to run the defrost heaters
I'm not a Solar engineer, but limited Googling suggested to me your figures are too high. Not a criticism, just an observation. And yes, I could be wrong!poppypiesdad wrote:The figures quoted are correct to run the fridge freezer for 2 days
It's for illustration, you know, "...this is what you could have had...". I have the intellect to realise she has the Samsung alreadypoppypiesdad wrote:Your shown freezer is purpose designed for the system , so yes you could buy 3 but she has already got the f/f.

Re: need advice re solar power please
I know you're asking about solar (which I know nearly nothing about) and are adverse to having a genny but I'm sure you don't have to run the f/f all the time ?
I mean, you only need power when you need to chill it back down don't you ?
Therefore you'd need less power from your cells (they'd be charging all day, the f/f won't be running all that time )or to run a genny for periods rather then for days on end

You'll use more energy , letting it warm up making the compressor work longer to drop the temp down again , crap I know but , there you go
Be Prepared.
Plan like its the last loaf on the shop shelves.
Plan like its the last beer in the fridge.
