That would be my ideal plan tbh.

Where do we find cheap land in the UK though? I guess if you were building a stealth bunker, it wouldn't matter who's land it was on lol

Dig a hole and camouflage it. That is your plan? Live in a hole. Sod that!
Too many people have the idea that "The Woods" is the place to go. Right here and now it is slashing down with rain. I would not want to be livin' in a hole in our local woods.

Total fantasy I am afraid.

Where did I say it would have to be in the woods? I think the quietest places in a post SHTF situation will be these modern busines parks lol.

Ive said elsewhere I think the countryside will be over run, bushcraft skills will prove a total waste of time, my digging in somewhere is not a long term solution. In my eyes its the only one in the short term, should there be some sort of grid collapse.

If theres problems with the water supply then crowded areas will become disease ridden and the countryside will never be able to support the volume of refugees ploughing through it pretending to be bear grylls, it could be total chaos for weeks.

Id rather find somewhere un-noticed to ride it out.

For me Bugging out simply means getting the hell out of dodge untill the main hubbub has died down, removing oneself from the arena of immediate threat, to give you time to plan your next move, be it going back home, or simply moving on to a new secure location, only the severity of the situation will dictate what is required.

Second that sentiment...

Alien invasion, cool let the military blow themselves up first, just stay out of the way, unless you find a dead alien and steal his plasma rifle by prising it from it's dead cold fingers. (what fun)

Zombie apocolypse, try not to get bitten, hide in the local rubbish bin's, yes I know they have security key's and can't be opened easily, thats why I have the spare key! (it also opens lift shafts!)

Solar CME (Solar Flare) all communications blackout, then that means riot's & looter's because the alarm systems rigged to every store shop etc dont do anything but Sqweak until the battery runs out...

So alien's invading, zombie hoards amassing and just starving hungry people gazeing at you and see a McChicken sandwhich! Hmm, maybe time to Bug out and go to ground.

my idea of bugging in is to screw my pre cut boards over all my downstairs windows, move myself and my partner upstairs. so I have the defensive bottle neck of the staircase I stored all my preps upstairs for this very reason.
