Where are you near UG? With someone from Workington, Maryport and Carlisle where would be the best place for us all to meet? Depending on where you are UG, Penrith might be a good middle ground. I personally don't mind though.

What does everyone want to do for a first meet? Is something simple like a pub lunch with outside beer garden a good idea? Would be nice to find somewhere quiet so we don't have to discuss prepping and our prepping group in front of too many sheeple.

Evening chaps. Sorry for the late reply as I have been away. Do you chaps have any idea where you would like to meet? I'm central lakes alas, though I do have transport. Some of the best places for doing any kind of prep meets are south of you guys.

Hey guys. Sorry for the late reply, have been away. Can everyone make it to Keswick? It has some good shops for preps and some may have some good deals in the January sales and it also has some nice quiet pubs where we could talk about prepping in Cumbria. Would be good if we could meet up within the next 2 or 3 weeks. Can everyone manage that?

Good to hear that there are preppers in Cumbria. Free time for me is limited and also i live in the remote Alston moors. Have been a prepper for ages but financial problems stopped me, but starting now, with food etc, wifey is getting the idea about prepping but just smiles when i talk about it but will keep trying.

I'd like to be on board with this too. I'm completely mobile and can meet any day or time.

With regards to what I'd like to get from a meet, long term I would feel more comfortable in any of the given prepper scenarios if I knew I could help or call upon other like minded people.

Living in somewhere as rural as Cumbria, we have the advantage of being able to get to many places on A and B roads, we could look at some kind of safe route ring road that encompasses us all (without giving away our full locations unless comfortable), that way we could have a safe route so to speak with the possibility of supply caches along the way if we needed to up sticks. Just an idea.

Short term, I feel it would be good to share ideas and get to know each other, weigh each other up if you like. We could even perhaps have some camping weekends to share knowledge and skills - I suggest this as I know I would benefit from it greatly as my outdoor skills are sadly lacking. The last time I camped (apart from a car show that had showers and toilets) was way back when I was in the Boys Brigade!

We could look at setting up some kind of message system for if traditional communication methods went down. Obviously I'm talking major SHTF there, but still isn't that the point of prepping, to be prepared for any eventuality?

Anyway, good to see more Cumbrians here if nothing else :)

I'm still here. Going to spend tomorrow buying in an emergency food supply. It feels like a crazy thing to be doing, but when you consider that it is a distinct possibility that the economy will crash and fall apart I think it is a wise precaution to be taking.
