Micromap compact system - might be something to look at.

For any map geeks that dont know you can order custom maps from OS with any chosen point at its centre ..... Handy if like me you live on multiple map corners!
Also there is a slightly lower detailed free to download mapset of GB ....less NIreland that you can print out. As you wish legally!
Wonder how much it would be to print on a silk sheet! Lol
All my research keeps coming back to either the Philips Compact Road Atlas, it is A5 and cheap.
Two drawbacks are that is dated 2012 and it is cluttered by speed cameras, but as a common reference that is inexpensive and small then I suggest it is worth having in our vehicles.
Another mappy type resource, if you have not already got a copy printed and laminated somewhere, is the overview of the OS Grid system.
For navigationally inclined people there is one with OS and Lat/Long on...

As with the common road atlas idea, very handy for communicating quickly. You might want quick relaying of position data if you were using either text messages or discrete radio transmissions.
I'm going to try this water proof paper, found it on the O/S site, also on e-bay "Toughprint 100% Waterproof LASER A4 Paper"
The advert says it's good for maps.
Just thought it might help.
