Well having supplies in has suddenly helped us out. We suffered an ''erm'' freezer problem in that somehow or other the door wasn't properly shut and being in the garage it wasn't immediately noticed and thus a slow defrost had started. Luckily it was mostly fruit that had started to thaw and having a 25kg sack of sugar we were able to turn most of the fruit into jam and not waste it so I can at least answer yes to the original question despite what I wrote earlier.

I need to get a new freezer to put in the garage. The one I've got in the house is chocker and it's doing my head in because I have to remove loads of stuff to find what I need.

we use 2 freezers, the one in the house has stuff we use every day, the one in the garage is the Meat freezer.
Adapt or Die, there is no middle ground.
