Vehicle prep

I didn't say I don't think its a possibility myself, and I've done plenty of research. My question to you was how likely do YOU think it is. The answer seems to be, very likely.
If I woke up tomorrow and a loaf of bread was £300 I'd bake my own. If I lived in a large city I'd move now, not wait until some disaster hit and then try and leave with tens of thousands of others doing the same.
This isn't necessarily directed at you but I've read post after post where people seem to have some idyllic mad max style ideology that we're pending imminent doom and they'd fight their way out of a city, taking their family and loved ones with them and go and live in the countryside.
If you truly believe what you say, why stay where you are? Why not make life changing decisions now and protect your family?

I personally like to use a Volvo V70 estate, 2.4 turbo diesel engine. You can even get a 4x4, All Wheel Drive Variant the XC70. Gives you the benefits of having a decent on-road vehicle that you can use day to day with a bit of added 'oomph' to Get Out Of Dodge.

Plenty on the market in all ranges of prices depending on age, condition, mileage etc...

Big, comfortable, safe, fuel efficient, structurally sound, relatively inexpensive

There's a reason most Police Forces and Ambulance Services use them.

Also Skoda do decent estates (with the Scout 4x4 variant available).
Cutting, combustion, cordage, container, cover.

I don't like the V series much, they're a funny shape inside.
Given the option I'd like an old 940 or 960, good cars and great in 'van' mode. Ideal for long distance and no problems in the cold (My Dad and I have had four of five between us and never had any hassle with cold starts), not as happy pootling around town though.

For those doing a bit of vehicle prep, I thought I'd share a find with you which I think is quite appealing.
I'm certainly always looking for more storage opportunities!

Let me know what you think! :D

They look mega! I can think of a million things I could do with that!

However they are massively overt.

Who carries MOLLE gear? Armed Forces/Emergency Services... Is that who you want to look like?

Might work as an intimidation factor if you whole loadout (BOB, Veh etc..) is pseudo Military/Police and your working on Social Compliance, but for a situation where you had to get out of Dodge and all around are panicing, looking like 'the man' might draw a bit too much unwanted attention for my liking.

Haha I can see where you're coming from but when it comes to getting out of Dodge I wont look like 'the man' I'll look like a blur!
I dont tend to go for MOLLE gear because I feel you end up with more bag and less usable volume so to speak, however that been said adding pouches to surfaces that I can store jack on right now is a bonus in my eyes :)

If nothing else this thread has made me think , which can only be a good thing. Should I need to make off it would be in my transit , which is a bog standard white van that would blend in rather than stand out. It's only two wheel drive (front) and I have driven it across fields. Off course it's nowhere near as good as a 4x4 . However, I've been thinking about escape routes that don't involve roads although as I see it the aim would be to get back onto Tarmac as soon as possible. 4x4's are good across country but I would struggle finding a route that isn't at some point crossed by hedges, ditches and waterways and most of our country is covered with relatively small fields bounded by hedges. Indeed in many cases it's hard enough on foot but cutting a way through for a vehical is going to seriously slow anyone down. Try it for yourself , walk a possible route.
Better still if staying put isn't an option try to get to know all the little small local roads and get away before the masses should allow you to stick to Tarmac and make good time.

Had a look inside a skoda octivia estate ,and my god there's barely any room in the rear footwells ,shocking really for a car that looks big on the outside
I seen a old 240 Volvo estate otherday, they still look an impressive car.

You've got the vehicle, Volvo or similar, you're loaded up and you're bugging out. Are you planning to get to family or do you have other plans? No need to divulge too much to break your OPSEC but I'm wondering how far you're planning to travel and what routes you'd use and what Plan B, C and D you have.

I'm not being nosey, I'm interested because some of my family members have the same idea.
I recently experienced Plymouth City centre so that's why I prep.
