Just another 30 tins of various food, going by 4 cans a day I think I've got close to a months supply now, although on the amount of calories they'd offer I'd probably stand to lose a bit of size lol

Amazing how little room 100+ cans takes up as well, I just use one of the big plastic boxes from £ stretcher, think I'll need another one soon :)

Met my local amateur radio group for the first time last night. Had a great time and am looking forward to getting my license.

There is no morse test but there is a short morse appreciation section that anyone could do, so nothing to be scared of. I think I'm still going to have a go at learning morse code though, lots of the members use it and I think it could be fun and useful in a SHTF scenario.

I'm looking forward to starting properly and getting on the air now.

Cheers
Gary

today i bought 500 mtrs of trammel net, they are for use off my boat, but i was wondering if anyone has a gill net or trammel that they could,if by the coast ,use to survive pshtf. a net used off the beach can be very productive. :)

Today finally finished digging over the allotment - all ready for spring.

Bargain - bought 108 vegetable plants for winter planting from Dobies for £15 which works out at 14p per plant (cabbages, cauliflower, brocolli, kale, lettuces and chard. The plan is to plant them out this weekend.

Not really a prep, yet. Been sending out occasional emails to my Freecycle group as I want a second back up generator but I can't justify the expense of buying a second one. Been asking every 5 or 6 weeks so as not to pester people. Anyway, I've finally had a bite. Not sure what it is exactly but I'm told its not available for a week or so and it's running really badly. Not bothered by that, having owned several Landrovers, I know one end of a spanner from the other

Fingers crossed!

Don't forget your local Freecycle group if you want something. I've given loads away on Freecycle so hopefully this generator will be 'karma'.

I have a couple of gill nets, one bought one I made . I used to make purse nets as a sideline- so made a gill while I was at it.

They are lethal! They are also illegal. If I were to say i had used one I could convict myself. Aah sod it! I caught a shit load every time I used one.

I have coursed, hunted, trapped, shot, lamped and fished for every creature on the British Isles I reckon. I read about SHTF airguns, crossbows etc. Traps and nets are the way to go. They work while you do something else. My trap and snarelines made me good money when the kids were young, boy we needed it.

hi jansman, gill nets are perfectly legal in the sea, but if you havnt got a commercial licence, you cannot sell the fish , there are local regulalations governing setting them but they are not illegal. In sussex you can set them off the beach but the float line must have a certain depth above it at all times, however if its a drift net you can stay with with it and it can fish on the surface as long as its not tethered. they are a great way of feeding yourself with little outlay or fuss {as you know].
Any one on here that lives near enough to brighton is welcome to come out wiith us and see how netting is done, you too jansman !!! :)

Thanks! I have seen gills in action off the Lincolnshire coast. Very effective. However, me being a Midlander, I have to make do with lowly trout , perch and other coarse fish. In theory of course! ;)
