Ta, it doesn't happen often

I know what you mean, I was tempted to buy stuff to fill them as I was walking to the checkout

I'm still stuffed though; as I'll need to buy more shelving for them to sit on :o

Got people coming to quote for fitting a wood burner and someone else to replace my old guttering (some of it I suspect is about 100 yrs old - cast iron stuff ;) ) Then I can fit more water butts to improve my water collection.

Also picking up new (used) car tommorrow - bought it to force myself to actually take more lessons and pass my test, something that I've been letting slide for far too long ! Already got my car emergency kit ready to put in there - that's me, prepared in gear, not in skills !

Just ordered some storage boxes, and have been buying lots of tins (and a ridiculous amount of chocolate, thanks Tesco). Popping to Ikea tomorrow so hope to check out other storage ideas so I have space for proper prepping!

Just had a multi fuel stove installed.I have no chimney so had the flue installed up through the living room ceiling,up into kids room and out of the roof. The flue upstairs is double walled and has a metal cage around to comply with building regs but is worth it because the heat it gives out heats upstairs. The CH has not been on since it was installed. I also then literally moved a tonne of coal and tonne of hardwood from the roadside up into the back garden by hand.Felt like I had been hit by a train the next morning

Trying to adapt our bungalow with very little storage already into some thing more suitable for prepping i.e building cupboards adapting other cupboards looking for hid y holes what a nightmare has any one any ideas please? Our main problem is it has a concrete floor with no access to the underneath.

decided to go against my principles and start a small collection of precious metals as an alternative to a savings account. its going to be slow work as I am on a low income.

I just don't trust the value of cash over the coming 5 - 10 years so any savings account no matter what the percentage interest is not going to be worth my while as you are always losing out on inflation. But if I can get maybe £10 a weeks worth of investments together then that's something at least.

under the kitchen cupboards and you can use the voids under the seats of your three piece. Are just two places to look at and you might pick up some more ideas from you tube

Missed out on the Generator from Freecycle but might have scored some food grade lidded buckets, will find out tomorrow.

Found a hole in my preps though. No tinned sponge puddings! I dont have a sweet tooth at all and neither does the wife. So we don't spend much time each day worrying about pudding. Had a real craving the other night and couldn't find anything other than an MOD rat pack pudding. I'm workin tomorrow and the wife will be close to a Sainsbury so I've instructed her to buy a dozen assorted tins.

Secret storage ... seeing junmist mention the void under the three piece reminded me - my sofa has an easy way to get to that, the bottom is covered in, but there's a zip - light stuff could certainly be put there - medical supplies for instance, and *fairly* easy access too.

I'm doing lots more prep this week on the garden, getting rid of useless shrubs. It got brought home how important that is to me yesterday - I walked to a little path about half an hour from home, there are hundreds of sloe trees - and no sloes at all. The flowers were blown off in summer, so there's no fruit to set. Without imported food, we'd have been hungry this winter, in this country.
