Like wearing a PARA T shirt in areas where there are people (or their relations/nationality) who have been "upset" by airborne forces. Just about everywhere, then
HAHA this gave me a good laugh.

No I more meant wearing it for EDC - people may not recognise the Swedish insignias but they may see them as army etc.

On that front you should be fine mate. Lots of trendies wear military kit, c'est chique, n'est pas ? 8-)

Not calling you a "trendy" mate, not at all, god forbid, thats the worst insult ever !

No, I was more suggesting that you could hide amongst them, use them as a kind of EDC human shield

just kidding, folks, human shields are very bad - not to be encouraged.

I mean, look what happened when Saddam used them ! You dont want to get invaded by the Americans...I know, I married one :o ...much to eternal regret and horror. Fortunately she is not "La Shockette", me and Miss USA parted ways decades ago. Phew ! (wipes sweat from brow)

I like wearing milsurp, basically because its mostly* cheap as chips and as rugged as all get out.

However, I've never served but do have both relations and friends who have and the one thing I never want to be mistaken for is someone 'stealing honour'.
Because of this I don't wear current camo or the old British pattern and remove flags, name-tags and any recognisible insignia (I've left the collar boards on my Sov greatcoat because they just look like detailing)

My Redcoat however is a totally different matter

* Except the stuff thats become 'trendy'

Been doing some major gardening today involving demolishing the old 8x6 shed.... Mrs Andy's mother took a full estate car of chopped up wood away for her log store

...

Evolution saws are great as they let you chop the wood up and not worry about hitting nails..

We took the chance to have a major throw out session the front yard is full of rubbish / junk ready for a big tip run tomorrow..

Good bit of de cluttering = more room for preps ;)

Just built up a new first aid kit for the house need a few odds and ends got 2 trauma dressings in the car to add to it really ought to add a CAT to it at some point in case the chop saw bites me :o

Got new fence panels ordered to secure the garden be here Tuesday just need 3 fence posts and some more anti climb spikes

Got some concrete to mix then I can put a hard standing in for the outside oven / BBQ and a 10w solar led flood light to go up

So yes rather busy at the moment :o
If your roughing it, Your doing it wrong ;)

Lack of planning on your part doesn't make it an emergency on mine

Forgey, nice pic ! Is that an India Pattern Bess ? What period/ formation is that with the apron and gaiters ? :?:

Nice balanced grip on that long , well, long: shows confidence. I was shooting a Martini Henry the other day and it made me remember how much a prefer heavier long guns. Do you shoot ball or is it blanks ? It looks as though you are taking a target, there. 8-)

PS- that "stealing honour" is a load of yankee psycho-babble divisive cobblers, I reckon mate. Those who have served, and bless them all (the long the short and the tall, even the Andrew), from what I have been told don't think that way at all. But god bless you for having the respect in these days when so many don't. ;)

Its a funny one, I've got no issues whatsoever with folk wearing any kind of military gear, its practical and from time to time is fashionable. I do have problems with the fantasists and I've met some who were still in the Forces so its not just civvies/ex Forces who make up their military careers. I've even had my own dits (stories) told to me as if they were someone elses. Admittedly mine tended to be more carousing based than taking out 50 bad guys with a SAK type dits. It goes without saying, I won the Cold War practically on my own. :D

Yes, shes an India pattern. 1809 and we're 'pepper-potting' (Playing at being Light Bobs, even though we're a line company), the apron and gaiters worn outside the overalls(trousers) is because I'm a Pioneer....Oh and here we were just using blanks, but I do have a suitable ball-mould and am hoping to find a range that I can shoot at. I'm staring because I'm trying not to flinch from the pan-flash.

As to the other thing, I've Navy and Guardsmen in my close family

You as well ? I thought that was "Andy McNab" !

On a more serious note - in my experience, those that have "been there" rarely want to talk about it much. And certainly not in public, with a mixed audience.

I used to think along similar lines and went for black rather than green or blue cargo trousers even, funnily enough the only time I heard anyone having a snipe at a civvy for wearing army trousers was also a civvy, I've never served, have massive respect fort hose who did/do, at the time I would have been eligible ( the Cold war) asides from suffering too badly from travel sickness of all kinds to even consider it, we were squaring up to people we had fought alongside when a real demon was upon us, at that point in time I could not see the sense in it, but for me dressing military was not about what others would think, these days it boils down to it's good kit at a reasonable price so it gets considered.

As for long guns, everybody grins when they go off  They're still too much faff for me.
I have a strategy, it's not written in stone, nor can it be, this scenario has too many variables, everything about it depends on those variables, being specific is not possible.
