Value Range foods compared
Re: Value Range foods compared
Our local B and M 95p per kilo - so 4.75 for 5 kg. Always a positive when you look.

thx. It's only a quid a kilo for m&s sugar from ocado. So the £5 for 5kg is all the more unusual at Tesco.
Tesco own booker/macro. Anyone here know the price at those places?

Re: Value Range foods compared
I just took a look at all the bigger supermarkets online prices. Jeepers! All of them are now over a quid for a single kilo and only Sainsbury's still has a sub-£5 price for the 5 kilo. (I suspect that wont be there much longer)
My jam making this year has just become a more expensive hobby. I do recall something last year about a problem with the sugar crops so I guess that might explain the swinging price increase.
Maybe it is time for me to just "quit sugar". I am sure my waistline will thank me.

Aldi Skyr yoghurt, had to bin it. Vinegary taste.
Re: Value Range foods compared
I have just laid in ten kilos at this price for this season's jam making & bottling season. I use foraged/homegrown/swapped fruit so the sugar is the main cost involved.
(My son can eat 2 jars of peanut butter a week and Sainsburys now sells this in traditional jam jars with metal lids so I always have plenty of jars available. These also work for simple water bath fruit bottling)

Re: Value Range foods compared
Arla Skyr youghurt. Expensive but very thick, so you have to take that into account. Was half price at Sainsbury's. I only buy it when it's reduced. Otherwise I might get Mary Ann which is cheap, but thin/watery.

Dammit: RIP!

ASDA Everyday Teabags have been discontinued!!!!
They really suit our local water and were our favourite teabags. Also good value at just over 1p per bag.
Nearest similar that we've found are Lidl red label, but they are noticeably not as nice.
Any suggestions for a replacement? We're down to our last 2,000 bags.

This isn't a cheapo brand, just a bargain, I didn't know where else to put it.
Amazon:
Nescafe Azera Americano 500g £16 = £32/kg. Subscribe and save £14.40 = £28.80/kg
Was about £6 dearer a couple of months ago.
Sainsburys have 90g for £6 = £66/kg
So, less than half price.
Sains are doing 140g for less! £5.50 Nectar price = £39/kg.
