A friend with a Mackro account took me along with her yesterday - knowing the trip had been coming I'd saved up and made quite a long list!! Big quantities of basics (now need to get into Mylar - ing!) and some good extras - such as large catering tins of fruit, coffee and even found some tinned goose fat! Oh and 66 toilet rolls for £14.50
Hi mushroom - poundstretcher, 36 rolls of loo roll for a fiver = 72 for a tenner! for 50p more you could have bought 108 I personally found makro a bit dear !!! sorry

Ah but there's loo roll and there's loo roll!! It's about quality and number of sheets as opposed to number of rolls! This was branded good quality stuff (though I'm willing to accept defeat if Pounstretcher's was too!) And I do agree - some things it's just not worth it - cheaper in the supermarket, but really good for bulk buys of pasta, sugar etc and a few extras you just can't get normally. :D

OK...I'm just trying to figure out how I can carry 108 loo rolls in my shopper on wheels!...and where I can put them when I get them home.

Ha ha! That's a lovely idea! We should celebrate our preps!

I have one! Mine is a lifesaver. I'm on my second one because the first lost a wheel when I got off the bus with it full of jars and tins and the poor thing couldn't cope! :(

Thanks for the kind thoughts on my move. It's lovely here and I'm settling in well. Unpacking is rather less than lovely, but one can't have everything!

I've found a whole load of brown rice, quinoa, cous cous and other grains that really need eating up so at the minute, everything I eat has brown rice with it - a good exercise so I can work out how long 1kg will last :)

Over the next few days I'll go out on my bike and scope out the supermarkets round here.

Now I have the space and an oven to myself, I'll practice making my own bread again. It's a skill that I need to brush up on.

Got myself a £3.99 one liter flask for hot drinks (as my other three vacuum flasks are there for food and food preparation using haybox/heat retention methods and I would hate to use them for drinks) and stocked up on lighters despite the fact that I haven't even put a dent in the last load of cigarette lighters I got. They are always useful and I don't want to be short if there is an issue.

My preps this week consist mainly of stopping taking one and maybe two kinds of medication, looks like I'm not going to be reliant on that supply chain / stock pile.

Also giving serious thought to taking up shooting again as a sport that can be turned into a food source if it all goes to sh!t. On one hand a few people would come to know that I'm a source of guns post-shtf, on the other hand I'll have guns! Feels like a better prospect than the two little crossbows I have stowed away.

& hurrah for 300 pages! *does a little dance, makes a little noise, gets down tonight* :-P
