Back yard
Re: Back yard
Some great ideas for back yard security, our back garden is a liitle bigger than Hobo`s I think, (semi detached home), we put new fencing up last year on one side and along the bottom and finishing the other side this year, I was wondering which plants to use as a defence for anyone to climb over, although each persons back garden is at the back of the others, may look at the Fairy rose and some of the flood lights too suggested for Hobo, also some trellis...
Re: Back yard
I'm not that good at prioritising but I did finish a project in the yard today!
There were 2 wood piles in the yard which provided climbing opportunities over the back and side wall. Well now I have all the wood neatly stacked in a wood shelter/store with corregated plastic roof!
My OH is very pleased and has already started pricing an outdoor table and chairs
Next I'm going to see to PIRing the lights, then the wall spikes....
I've also begun reporting antisocial behaviour to the council, with a view to trying to get the alley gated.

Re: Back yard
great work Hobo, maybe your mind can settle a bit now, and carry on with your ideas too...
Re: Back yard
That sounds good!
Its a bit separate from what you've been describing, but I just re-read the thread in one go, and you mention the double glazing - I've seen a lot online about replacing the normal screws that attach the frame to the house, replacing them with huge great big ones, as its often the d.g. frame that gives out ...

Re: Back yard
Thanks Arzosah. More for me to look up! We can never learn enough
Re: Back yard
Completely clear, well lit backyard with brighter PIR lights and stronger door to the back lane - all done!
Next I'll attach wall spikes and consider Arzosah's double glazing idea.
Now to put the table and chairs out that my OH wanted!
Oh, and I fitted 2 deadlock bolts to the inner kitchen/dining room door!

Re: Back yard
Yay! Good for you! Always nice when you do something for prepping reasons, and it has a better feel and even looks better too
