We never got the alert up here, I think it would have been good as we have also had a couple of wildfires, one on Arthur’s Seat which isn’t too far from me.

We all know not to be idiots with flammable stuff but does the average person in the street?

Got home from Selby about 7:30pm tonight I've been dumping water from the sprinkler onto the land behind since then ... And next door has joined me spoke over the fence the alert had woken him up to what I was doing prior probably thought I was losing the plot prior... Wet / green stuff doesn't burn

No alerts here! Maybe it wasn’t so nationwide, as we received the test one a while back… I’ll keep an eye on here and use what common sense I have left!

Got the alert. As far as I know it was nationwide for England and Wales. I presume Scotland has it's own system. Hopefully it'll prevent a few wildfires.

Surely as preppers we should welcome the Fire and Rescue Services’ request for a public alert? The next alert could be a pandemic, a dirty bomb, or an emergency in your area. In this instance the warning was national, but it could be specific to your area.

If the first time you become aware of something, even regionally, is when the Gov tells you, then maybe you're not getting this prepping thing right.

Situational Awareness.

Situational awareness is an important part of preparedness — and in my opinion that includes paying attention to official alerts and other information sources.

Good preparedness isn't about relying on a single source of information. It's about building layers of information and having redundancy — your own observations, trusted news and emergency services, community information, and official alerts.

An official alert can provide information you haven't encountered elsewhere, confirm the seriousness or scope of a developing situation, or provide specific advice about what action to take.

That's useful information, whatever else you already know.

The point isn't to know what's happening before everyone else. It's to have enough good information from multiple sources to understand what's happening and make good decisions.
