Lone Wolf asked (Dec 5th) what we could do about antibiotic medications in preparation for a total breakdown type scenario.
This is something I have previously puzzled over, being rather reluctant to approach my GP for help.

As far as I can ascertain it is illegal to buy prescription-only drugs without a prescription or consultation in the UK, whether on or off line. This law currently does not apply to websites based abroad though, as long as you're buying for personal use. Possession of prescription only medicines without a prescription is not a criminal offence unless it falls under the regulations of the misuse of drugs act.
Therefore one can legally purchase antibiotics from one of the on-line drugs suppliers that is based abroad.

Armed with this knowledge I ordered some amoxicillin from http://www.n1drugs.com They arrived by recorded post 2 weeks after I placed the order. The OH was delighted as she regularly suffers from respiratory infections!!

Although not cheap, it seems like a prudent move to gradually increase my stock of antibiotics just in case, so I hope to order more over the next few months.
I have the web addresses of two or three other overseas suppliers if anyone would like them.

Panther, that's very good to know, sorry I missed your post. I have bought supplements online from sites that bring them in through the Channel Islands, but not prescription drugs. Very handy to have.
