Shymatty-
You can get bb cartridges which contain much larger pellets, not quite buck size but a good increase on no6 and no7 shot which are more commonly used for birds. With a heavily choked barrel and bbs you'll do plenty enough damage out to a good range, maybe 30-40 yards. Buckshot I feel sure isn't illegal, but may well be fac or just not in demand.
Unsure- I'm assuming you mean the application of wax. Not all that effective really, heat from the propellant and barrel friction causes some loss to the out side, resultant mess is fairly unstable in flight and a little innacurate. You also run the rusk of leaving crap in the barrel which could foul your subsequent shots or wreck your gun. Most importantly it is illegal to modify ammunition so would only be use if shtf. In that situation you're taking a hell of a risk. Would be better to buy or make a cheap slug mould and a reloading press. Pop the pellets out, melt and cast as slugs, reinsert and you're done. No guesswork as to loading as weight is the same so powder will be correct. Of course you would be breaking the law if you were to try this in non shtf but a nice collectable mould could be nice on the mantlepiece, and hey you could always practice reloading your normal shot choice, would be a great post shtf skill!
