Night time preps were not needed in my part of Hertfordshire, in fact this morning was lovely very bracing but sunny and mild. Good thing about being so built up is that the back garden had its own micro climate hardly notice any wind at all until I went out the front.

Still getting power flickers through the night. I have only just switched the PC on again as until a few hours ago, it kept surging here. Hearts go out to those that died, especially the family of the girl who were renovating their house so sleeping in caravans in the garden. Having to live with the fact that it missed your caravan but hit the one your daughter was in must be a hard thing to live with.

Just an observation - I am not sure what point, if any, I am trying to make!

The weather down here in the south-west was far worse than that during last week's 'St Jude's Storm'. Much stronger winds and very heavy rain, during the night. The wind made for a very unusual fireworks display during the evening, with rockets flying off sideways! :)

It's funny we thought it extremely windy yesterday and heavy rain though not for long on the A38 on the way home from the range, the feature of the previous weekend's storm was the strength of the gusts, whereas yesterdays wind was strong and sustained, perhaps more noticeable during daylight.
I have a strategy, it's not written in stone, nor can it be, this scenario has too many variables, everything about it depends on those variables, being specific is not possible.

I am on the other side of the River Severn and, yes, it was horrible! In fact it still is today.
