My mum and sisters wouldn't be helpful, and as unfair as it sounds I think they could manage to get me killed in just about any situation, they would be better off on their own.
Your poor mum. How does you dad feel about leaving her behind?

Reading between the lines I doubt they are an item, I wouldn't be parted from my wife, but I know of couples who have split who TSHTF couldn't pull together ;)
I have a strategy, it's not written in stone, nor can it be, this scenario has too many variables, everything about it depends on those variables, being specific is not possible.

I'd rather die like a lion than live like a rabbit. Would you be able to look in a mirror after abandoning your family?

Would you be able to look in a mirror if you stuck with them, they refused to do what was necessary and got you all killed?

I don't know his folks but I've know a few who refuse to contemplate TSHTF, much less prepare to let go of the past and learn to live in the new present.
SHTF around 2017.

I would bug in and get my youngest sister and her daughter to mine. The rest are too far away to try to help.

For me. bug in with the family. I am the only one in my whole family who is a prepper, everybody else does not care, i have brought the subject up with wifey but nothing. So i have to try and prep for all of us, we live in a rural location with plenty of space for supplies, we have a river at bottom of garden (will be looking at some kind of purification in future) so plenty of water. But, back to original question; i couldn't leave wife and family so defo bug in and defend as much as possible.
