Howling double glazing = the trickle vents - they're mad, those trickle vents, if I need fresh air circulation, I'll open the window! Good luck Lil.

Shutting the vents makes it worse! Waiting on HA to come and fix it before I have a breakdown

trickle vents really do work and help to keep down smells and humidity and therefore mould, unless naturally there is a spike in general humidity that helps the mould to breed.

I keep the windows open in all but the worst winter cold, I like fresh air. Husband says there's more fresh air inside this house than out of it

But the noise isn't coming from the vents. It's coming from round the sides. I have a coal fire and don't tend to block vents up anyway - that causes damp.

Applying for a job within walking distance, Not many of those come up here. Will save me a fortune in fuel a week as I currently do 70 miles a day and means Im always close to home.

Good luck with that. Local is good. My new job is a gentle 5 mile bike ride. As you say, save a fortune in fuel.
