I'm currently loading a memory card of scans of all my important documents. It's going in a cheap Android Tablet I picked up. Also copied to a USB drive that I carry with me.

I guess exercising would count. Had a learning experience about Gorgewalking, I say Gorgewalking, but there was stark little walking and more wading through/ jumping in/ crawling through frigid water. Think maybe a trip to the local camping shops, supermarkets, army surplus shops may be in order tomorrow. Oh and before I forget, got a file about preps on my USB stick and am currently arranging to take up Krav Maga lessons, yes I will be nervous going on my own but one thing I am is good at tackling anxiety.

iceprep,

You may well do the following already, (and apologies if it has already been discussed elsewhere) but hopefully this is a useful tip for someone else.

May I suggest that you also copy everything to another USB drive and store that well away from your site. Obviously this either has to be with a third party (safety deposit box), or preferably with someone you trust - in my case my parents, when I visit them each Christmas! (Note to self: visit Mum more often! ).

Obviously, each time you visit the other location, you simply swap the most recent backup, for the older version.

Hope that this helps someone.

Cheers Mr R

I work in IT, so am overly paranoid when it comes to backups.
Copies on my home laptop, on my memory card in the tablet. Backed up to the cloud. On the USB I carry and a duplicate left at work. All encrypted with an algorithm only the NSA could crack!

It is a very valid point and many people will not take enough precaution.

Let's hope your suggestion influences people.

one of the big noises in IT, someone like Gartner said "data does not exist unless it's been backed up - TWICE" or something like that - but you get the sory right? - I've been meaning to scan all my docs for ages (got a list of what to scan) - now looking for a cheap flatbed scanner....

The cheapest printer you can find will probably also be a scanner - that was certainly the case when I bought mine 2 years ago. They used to have to be separate, and they were *really* dear, but not any more, thankfully.

Good idea about multiple backups. I back up irregularly to my previous laptop, more regularly to my external hard drive, and very regularly to my flash drive.

I want to save a copy of all my docs but I just don't know how to do it - I am useless at computers. I couldn't even put a photo up on facebook and had to ask my sister to do it for me. I have two paper copies of my docs but will ask my sister to help with loading them up onto the computer as well some time.

just stashed my 24 L of commercial bio-ethanol behind the toilet. I took one bottle and tried the commercial fuel and compared it to my own. i think the flame colour is brighter and more yellow and seems to be higher. And when it burns down you don't get the crackly sound of the last 15% of water in the home made ethanol boiling away. Gonna try it tonight with the lights out and see how bright it is.

So far I have got beetroot relish, tomato and vegetable relish, 4 trays of dehydrated carrots and plenty more for me to do tomorrow. :D

Veg beds are almost cleared, ready compost bins have been emptied onto beds that are cleared and other bins have been turned.

Cleaned the chimney (bought our own brushes and rods).

Apologies for the size of photo - couldn't work out how to make it smaller
