Your beetroots look lovely!

I have been making mincemeat, blackberry jam, bramble and windfall jelly, blackberry vodka, fruit pies and scones to freeze. Currently have plums in the dehydrator and making jam with the rest tomorrow.

I've been making chutney with the plums and I need to do some more. It's already flying onto butties and it hasn't had a chance to mature yet!

I personally have this knife and even when I paid £12 I was happy with the price. This is an absolutely brilliant knife. Although some people don't like a plastic sheath this one is sturdy and holds the knife well so you don't have to worry about it falling out. I'm not sure how far the tang goes into the handle but I imagine most of the way at least as this is a very strong knife that you can abuse. The blade is thick and keeps an edge well. With it being a heavy duty carbon steel knife I use mine both for whitling and as a general purpose bushcraft knife. Definitely recommend it.

as i have been running the uphill struggle to get fit and build some muscle (not quite zero to hero, just zero to something...) I have been using pea protein to help increase my nutrient levels. A short calculation has shown me that three doses (one dose being two heaped scoops) will give me a little over 2000 calories a day and loads of protein. The calorific value being the quantity that one might use normally in a day. As it turns out, some people use this stuff as a meal replacement and its reasonably cheap by comparison with other protein powders on the market. I have had some for breakfast today just for practice and it seems to go down kinda ok (with some imagination!) and i thought it would be a useful food. It can also be used as a sauce thickener apparently. So I have ordered not just one to tide me over for a while, but a second to have in storage just in case i have to rely on those ghastly tins of tesco value potatoes that have been starting to take up more room in my upstairs area.

I bought Victorinox Solo that is, not only a robust and well made folding knife, is legal to carry in the UK so it is part of my EDC kit that also includes a survival tin and first aid kit. All fit into a belt pouch.

I also bought a few other supplies including a Czech Bedroll from Military Mart so my preps for the next week or two will be to field test some of my new kit.

This weekend just gone I also unpacked and repacked my BOB. I try to do this once a month to keep me very familiar with my BOB and where everything is inside. It also helps pack everything efficiently.

On another thread on this forum is a post about keeping important and personal data on several memory sticks. This is a very good idea so over the next few days I will be scanning in and storing all personal data as well as family photos and PDF's of survival books etc.

Had a good look at the hedgerows today and got about 3 lbs of brambles and 5-6 lbs of elder berries , the wife got the stallion back into his driving harness after 2 years off driving with no incidents , looks like I'll need to dust off the carriage and see how he does in it , still constructing new house , onto the plasterboarding , dot dabs
