I've just bought a few low cost smart price first aid bits and bobs to make up small first aid kits for our two EDC's. So I'll be sorting those out this weekend.

Got hold of 2000 litres worth of water purification tablets that are good until 2018. Must get my local stream water analysed though.

Decided what to get my brother and his better half, next Christmas: their very own startup emergency box. And some startup contents. If I buy them a little something each week or so, and (discipline required, to avoid a marathon on Xmas eve) wrap it when I buy it, they should have plenty to keep themselves occupied with come the festive season 2014. Nothing like planning ahead, key aspect of prepping!

Also, found some firelighters at Aldi - 64 for about £1.50. Bought 4 packs, and firelighting now thoroughly sorted. Next up - fishing gear. Done hooks and swivels, need more line, some weights, some floats. Once they're sorted, I'll start looking around for a telescopic rod that isn't too colourful, and a basic reel.

By the way, is it just me, or has canned tuna jumped up hugely in price, over the last few months?

Cheers, all, 2RM.

Having a bit of an inventory of my food preps this week and making sure my food date diary for 2014 is completely up to date,

Ordering some new shelving units and storage boxes as well,

my Tesco tuna bought two years ago cost 53p a can - it now costs 88p! Lots of Tesco value products have doubled in price over the couple of years. I try to buy as much as possible when they put better quality stuff on sale as it's usually then not much more expensive than the value alternative.

In an attempt to work on my general nutritional health without having to take tonnes of pills, I have started to take Yerba Mate seriously. Its kinda like the Argentinian "coffee". Actually a herbal tea which when made properly (with water at the right temperature) gives you a good boost in the vitamin and mineral department as well as a good Caffeine kick.

I am hoping that this will help my immune system, give me clarity of thought and related happy healthy benefits.

Have double-checked my EDC ready for going back to work tomorrow. Added an extra hand warmer and karabiner, and my compass/thermometer.
