What Preps are you doing this week
Re: What Preps are you doing this week
Have begun clearing out my loft and taking advantage of the flooring I layed several years ago in preparation of having someplace to sort some supplies, bought some paracetamol, ibuprofen and dried skimmed milk to add to what I have.

Jpm, how well insulated is your loft?
Mine (done by a previous owner) is well insulated between the floor and the rest of the house below but poorly between the ceiling and the roof. This means that it gets too hot during the summer and near freezing in winter....... Some preps don't do so well under those conditions (I've mostly got gear up there rather then food)

Thats the problem i have ... thinking about kingspan thermaboard type material and underdrawing the roofspace with it rather than packing between the trusses to keep the air flow under the slates to prevent the timbers suffering from condensation build up and subsequent rot.. With it been a solid board it wont hold water like glass fiber or the like
If your roughing it, Your doing it wrong
Lack of planning on your part doesn't make it an emergency on mine

Been out in my garden today testing my new MSR Pocket Rocket.
Best bit of kit I've bought so far! Fantastic little stove.
Probably the most aptly named product ever too!

That's what I'm in the process of addressing now, the insulation that was laid is adequate for typical purposes and when I laid the flooring I only had additional storage in mind for bits and bobs. I'm going to track the temp in there for nxt cpl of weeks to work out an average for this milder winter and keep a note as we head into the year to see what can be stored there. As my vision for its use changes then it may be that more work is carried out or things upgraded to meet requirements, but I'm not planning on overloading it with supplies. I just want somewhere I can keep out the way of my OH whilst I begin my prep journey and get her on board

Got some shelving units to put up.
Going Lidl shopping during the week, I always seem to come out of their with something prepping related. Whether it is flasks, Walking boots, or cans of Baked beans..
Other than that Just keeping an eye on the weather.
Have a good week people.

Having food, water and shelter are not a right.
They are a responsibility.
So make it your priority.

Bought some fishing swivels, a camo snood (for 33p + £3.99 p&p), a wind up torch, and around £5.00 of food for stocks.

Today my SOH bought a new car, she's all excited
This weekend I will mostly be prepping her emergency bag and making sure that everything is as it should be. This coming week I should start receiving some supplies from the Amazon so I can start Soylent experiments. Kinda looking forward to that, should be rather interesting! If only I didn't have to go back to work!
