Do you have independant power for your router and computer? Most routers recently are 12v so begging to be powered by solar! If you plugged your router into a 12v powerbank and had a laptop you should still have the net.

Preps next week: GOING BACK TO WORK!!! Gaffer rang me tonight and asked how I felt about getting back? The online delivery business has gone through the roof since the new website went live. They need a good knife man, and the boss admitted I am the fastest sausage maker he ever employed. That’ll be me then! And I will be back on the knives. Kick ass butcher! And PROPER money.

I had one of these powering an IP camera at 12v, I believe they'll also work on a router, for a limited time obviously. They have a single 18650 battery inside so will continue through short outages. My main kit runs off a proper UPS.

It's been a difficult week, mentally. While I can work from home, the actual work has tailed off a bit, so I have had more opportunity to mull over this whole being shielded stuff. Luckily, it looks like I'll be busier next week as plans for how the next academic year will go have been released and the actual work needs doing now.

I finally got a Tesco order delivered so I was able to have a proper stock up. I'm going to use this weekend to do a few bits of food prep and create some menus so I can plan my food use better. I'm also going to do a bit of decluttering so my living environment is more pleasant - but this is a long term task which can't be done in one weekend.

I've also been working on an austerity budget. I'm fairly certain the higher education sector is going to go down the toilet in the near future and the first jobs to go won't be the higher ups, it'll be admin bods like me! So I'm taking the opportunity to save as much money as possible while I'm not going anywhere. I already save a fair amount of my salary anyway, so this will adding to the war chest.

Congratulations! And to Andy too :)

As for my own preps - just picked up a CandC from Sainsbo this morning - no frozen veg obtainable at all, though I'm still okay for the next week. I noticed the convenience shop by the station opens at 7am and it was literally empty, while there was a queue of maybe 100 people spaced out at the Sainsbo - so I'll try there, in person.

I'm doing little jobs that make things easier and tidier, partly to improve living standards at home, partly to clear the kitchen table so I can do proper craft work: I have an idea for a flyscreen over my large bowls, so I can soak porridge overnight - using an old plastic necklace as weights.

Over the last month+ A lot of the jobs I have done have been geared towards lifestyle improvements, just like you. Rearranging my workshop was the most monumental. Everything is now to hand, with extra bench space for working. Stuff I have been meaning to do literally, for years.
