The devils tear drop - by Jeffery Deaver. Really great read if you like crime thriller.

Being new here I have just come across this thread so thought I'd put my two penneth worth it. My all time favorite has to be The War Of The Worlds by H.G. Wells. I love that book. If you haven't read it do so. You will not be disappointed.

I Vote Lord Of The Rings! Read it three times. Love the Peter Jackson films too. Nuff said.

Probably anything by Terry Pratchett.... although in the last 2 years my daily reading usually includes classics such as "There's a Cow in the Cabbage Patch" and "Moomin's Most Magical Pop Up Book". Sigh.

Can I assume your daily reading is due to a small person? How about adding in Pratchett's 'Where's My Cow?' to the bedtime read?Puffpuffmew wrote:Probably anything by Terry Pratchett.... although in the last 2 years my daily reading usually includes classics such as "There's a Cow in the Cabbage Patch" and "Moomin's Most Magical Pop Up Book". A favorite ... very hard - so many fab authors and series: Simon Scarrow's centurian series, Bernard Cornwall's archer trilogy (Heratic, Harlequin ..) and also his Viking series, anything by Neil Gaimen, I love the witches and the Tiffany Aching books in Pratchett's Discworld series. I'm reading Dresden Files atm, but one of my fav books would have to be Clan of the Cave Bear by Jean M Aeul - a bit different from the others I know
My hubby has just read a fab book that he is prodding me to read called Ready Player One by Ernest Cline, apparantly well worth a read. A geeky theme mixed with the 80's pop culture, set in the future, within an online game. (So for a child of the 70's and 80's who has played a fair amount of online games in her time, I am quite intrigued!)

Enid Blyton Secret seven and Famous five, great stuff, absolutely spiffing with lots and lots of ginger beer
But seriously it showed young people thinking for themselves, doing things, using their brains to solve problems and having freedom to explore. Something sadly lacking these days

I can't pick a favourite, it's just not possible! I can list a few I really like, how about that? Pratchett, JD Robb, Diana Gabaldon, The Jack Reacher Books - can't remember who they're by - Spike Milligan, Gerald Durrell, Michael Crichton, I guess you get the picture.
I'm still peeved that I missed my chance to meet Sir Terry because I was grounded by the weather *sulks*
