I'm something of a compulsive knitter and crocheter (I have multiple WIPs on the go at any one time) and honestly have more yarn than I know what to do with. I have some specific amounts of yarn set aside for socks and a couple of clothing items earmarked to make, but I'm wondering what folks here would recommend making as a form of prep? Blankets in case of cold snaps seem like the obvious ones, but there's probably something else I haven't considered.

How did I not know there was a knitting thread...?

Re: Knitters
Ysverine socks, neckwarmers, gloves, and teacosy hats never go wrong
Re: Knitters
I am a poor knitter and rarely do so but have been learning "Viking knitting" which is an ancient way of creating hats gloves etc with a single eyed needle. On the plus side it does not ladder if snagged. On the down side it does not unravel if you make a mistake.....

Blankets for mugs
If you've really got a mad amount of yarn, maybe curtain linings, light layers etc trapping air?
Neck purse for your house key (and car key, and any other tiny stuff) when you're out and about, so you can get back. One of my nightmares is being the victim of a snatch and grab, when the bag that's been snatched contains my keys to get back in my house. Other keyholders live a fair way away.

I have a small container with emergency keys well hidden in our garden. No it is NOT under the garden gnome or the doormat
I learned that lesson when our keys were lifted while on honeymoon. I didn't get carried over the threshold as much as assisted through the bedroom window. Thankfully the neighbour recognised us when breaking in. There was a spare key at the maisonette as family had been staying there but that only surfaced when we went to the Yellow Pages to try to find a locksmith since my Mum creatively hid it when checking out.

Herself used to be a Carer so we keep our spare keys in a keysafe bolted to the wall in the porch.
We held keys for four different older neighbours..... But due to time only one now
