Just as a word to the wise Aberdeenshire... these forums are accessible to search engines etc so take care when mentioning anything with regards to ******** and defence as this could be viewed as premeditation if, heavens forbid, you actually did have to defend yourself or your family someday.
I am in no way judging or being critical of your stance

Ok i understand there would be good reasons not to relate ******** with defense. However it would be part of my plan, if there was a WROL situation.

i dont have a community im proberly to young to even have seen what a real community is like theres about 5 people on my street who i talk to and i always say hi to people in my street and the majority of the time i just get a whisperd hi back or a orkward smile but ill still always be polite and friendly as my dad has always said to me treat people how i want to be treated but if the SHTF i would try to help as many as i could i would NOT give away food supplys but i would give away veg seeds and help people plant them and i have a container with all my spare seeds in but i would 1st offer that to the 5 people who i talk to and even if they did plant the veg and decided they had to go somewere else due to food shortages id ask them if i could keep using there garden and harvest when its time i just hope that when SHTF people in my street will work together and not steal and rob each other but i think when things get hard people will move some place else hoping things are better and the ones who stay will help each other well thats what im hoping for anyway

MR B, i think where you live is full of either retiree's or a very floating seasonally employed population, very few of whom are actually Devonian, and i doubt very much if any of them actually know their neighbours, so if you know 5 people to talk to you are probably very fortunate in that respect.

yea we have a few retiree's but the majority of my street is young couples but i do live about 10 mins walk away from paignton community college and i suppose im lucky that i even have some people to talk to on my street as many people dont even talk to there neibours or even know anybodys names of people living on there street but i would still like to think that if the SHTF people on my street would help each other and not steal from each other but i think a real community no longer exist my grandad used to tell me how he could leave hes door unlocked as he didnt have to worry about people breaking in would he do that now no he wouldnt he doesnt know anybody on his street anymore a little under 2 years ago he had someone con there way into his home stole £11,000 my grandad caught them in the act and he tried getting his money back they ended up outside and the neibours came out not to help but to just stand there and watch so he lost his life savings and ended up with a fractured cheek bone because know one helped him if it had have been 20-30 years before the con man wouldnt have even got the chance to hurt my grandad as people new and helped each other then. anyways enougth of my ramblings

respect and stay safe

yes, i know what you mean, when i was a kid my parents could leave the door open, not these days, i wouldn't trust anyone around here, especially the ones with kids. my neighbour was telling me about getting his car windscreen smashed by one of his neighbours kids, the little so and so was under 5 years old and heaved a brick through the car windscreen! i wouldn't trust any of them as far as i could throw them!!
