Utter C&%p. And thats being nice. You will have problems with the brakes. Vague steering, a poor turning circle. And dangerous, especially if towing anything. And the gear box will test your patience.

Mercedes-Benz Unimog are the best for a camper conversion, if you don't mind travelling to Europe and driving it back you can get them at amazingly low prices, in the UK they cost a bit more.

hi

im new to the forum but not new to the world of 4x4..... my daily drive and full time offroad car is a mitsy pajero swb 2.5tdic its 22 years old has over 200.000 on the clocks and i love it, i have owned many makes of 4x4 and this is the only car that i have kept for more than a year its currently modded with a full length roof rack, heavy duty bumper a 3inch lift and 33 inch tyres its also had the engine played with so it runs more turbo boost higher fuel pressure and the turbo spools up sooner, it also runs on 100% veg oil in the summer and 50/50 in winter but i have a heating system to fit for 100% winter veg too. inside have been stripped of its rear seats and storage has been built over the rear wheel arches with a bulk head between front and rear

all of the mods have been done by myself and the car is a joy to work on, the lwb models will see you just as good and have a longer roof for a larger roof rack up top and a much bigger boot before pulling the seats out

all this for less than 1500quid thats spare cash for preps

Pete - I read quite a lot now about how good Pajeros are so this is my option. Another one still being the Surf.

Unsure - what about a 4Runner? I'm pretty sure they come in a 2 person cabin and the rest is the flatbed. Maybe you could convert that into a camper?
