personal experience from gamekeeper friends and my own experience is that lincs firearms dept are not that good, i had an hour and half grilling, so did the missus, they rang my referee whom i have 2000 acres to shoot on , also rang my second referee... even though you only need one for sgc

if i didnt have my gamekeeper behind me i could have easily broken the law as feo suffered lack of knowledge and the law... all in all a pain in the butt, but all done now for 5 years so im a happy bunny... if applying for sgc/firearms make sure you know the law, theres plenty on basc and local police force websites, that way you can cover your backside.... on 3 occasions i was told i didnt need my cabinet checking and i could go out and buy as many shotguns as i wanted, my feo and also lincs firearms yet my gamekeeper, basc website and my own lincs police firearms website said i did need cabinet check and if i bought any shotgun without a check i would be held accountable and breaking the law. just my experience and not a good one... good luck anyone who applies though and has good reason eg clay pigeons/pest control all the best steve

You'll need to put it to the ground, foot in stirrup, good smooth hard pull, and don't let go of the string until it's cocked.
Not really had anywhere to practice yet, but have a feeling it could take down a deer (or clean through a cat. No I haven't and wouldn't do this, it's just for reference).

Get a cocking rope ! it halves the effort and prevents the inadvertent opening of the bowels, mines a 175lb version of the same thing mind you

Thx for the replies. Now, I`ve been having problems to find a range/place where I cab legally practice around Sheffield. My backgarden is not big enough...As a stopper I`m thinking of using a http://www.diy.com/nav/build/insulation ... mm-9273743. Would this stop a bolt?

I use about 10 large carpet tiles fixed together. Works fine

My daughter bought us a high density foam one 90X90X20 cms and that stops them without damaging them, good for the 60lb compound bow too, I use cardboard for the pistol crossbow and Co2 pistols many layers cut to size and stuffed into a cardboard box.
Whatever you do make sure that the bolts cannot go astray if you miss, solid backstop or wide open space where your bolts will hit ground before anything else.
No a shed or T&G fence is not good enough

Sounds like you need to invest in a good target one that stops the bolt point on rather than squashing it like a foam or straw one.
