Ordered an external SSD to replace the T7 that died. I won't be repeating my experiments with using it with the phone, although I may have corrupted it earlier by forgetting to eject before inplugging. Anyway, this was pretty cheap so I snapped it up. 41% off reduced to £68. I like to have one to take if I'm away, in case the place gets burgled or there's a fire. Of course most important stuff is in the cloud.

Put ribbon under the batteries in my radio, and under one of the batteries in my head torch, as they are hard to get out. I was using cotton, but ribbon is better and easier to see. In the radio I have a separate piece under each. They should be supplied with them built in.

Averted a fire. Thought I heard a slight noise when turning my kettle on. On taking the fuse out of the plug, I smelled burning plastic and could see some melting. Got new kettle from Argos.

Great idea, re the ribbon. My head torch ones are also a nightmare to remove.

My portable storage of choice is the Sandisk Extreme 512GB, it can take a knock and I think will take some water damage...

Just had a blood test. She struggled, asked me how much water I'd drunk. I've had loads of blood tests but I forgot - it helps them if you drink plenty of liquids that day. Getting tested for diabetes and B12. Ironic if I get diabetes after losing 3 stone two years ago.

Had a bloke round to look at the Prep Room drawers. He's gonna price it up. He did say if one went they could all come crashing down! They keep jamming or falling off the wooden strips they slide along, as they have worn down.

Off to water the baby anti-intruder bushes at the bottom of the garden.

Falling off wooden drawer runners? Sounds a bit dangerous what with the weight of rations. Did you have to empty the secret stash :)

Yesterday I went through my food preps ,checking dates and bringing forward those items nearest end of date to the front .
I was surprised that how many I had missed had no marker pen date printed on them.

Ordered new EDC rucksack, far better for carrying things like powerbank, water and snack bars etc, looking forward to that arriving, topped up tins and dried food as well as the all important bog roll 😂, going in garden now to plant some peppers 🌶️ etc, already got some seedlings coming through in greenhouse.

Good luck with the interview :D
This is a biggy.....
.... Prepping for ongoing inflation, I un-retired!!!

Just a few hours a week, and I don't know how long it will last, but it will bolster the budget a bit. Fingers crossed.

In other news, switched mobile phone providers to counter the 13% increase they were trying to inflict.

Now, if only my investments would stop falling faster than I can earn.

Now go out there and put back in for all the COVID handouts

Just think you could but a new heater for the garage

Since I posted in the erroneous post I'll try again it's been a long day :?

Watching the weather when it started to warm up I took the snow chains / shovel out the car ...

This weekend is MOT prep day for the wife's car..

My car needs two new rear coil springs the originals are a bit tired and saggy poor things are a bit soft now... For example took 100kg of batteries to the scrap yard last night ££ ... Tonight a big bale of compost, 60kg of chicken feed

All lumped round the the allotment...

Got the rotorvator going without too much agro it's not been started since early last autumn.. got the majority of the plot turned over and the mulch turned in along with the chicken crap from the coup ive been saving up (incidentally the rotorvator also traveled 20 miles home in the boot a few years ago it must be over 100kg plus the generator no wonder the springs are saggy  )

Just ordered a fire resistant storages box for the ever growing pile of important documents life piles up be good to get all the passports a bit safer

Need to grab some seed compost and start getting ready for this year's growing season ... Chillies are growing at my dad's they've a old airing cupboard so making use of his heat Vs running the propogator this year
If your roughing it, Your doing it wrong ;)

Lack of planning on your part doesn't make it an emergency on mine

Good luck with the new job. Of course saving £ is still the biggest thing probably. My Feb gas use is < 50% of last year, and elec is 88%.
But I need to find at least £150 to get the Prep Room drawers fixed.

I shifted some £ from a 120 day account this week to an Easy Access that is currently 3.25%. I could get 4% in a fix until next March or April, but I don't want it tied up as I blew all my ready cash last year with the roof etc. I've got rid of my overdraft as well, partly from cashing in a 25% lump of a small pot I had, which got converted so now I can withdraw bits when I need. They deduct tax so I might have to claim that back.

I also switched mobile providers, as Sky give me more for less, but the important difference to me is the rollover they do. I noticed my VPN was using loads of battery and thought 'oh no', maybe Sky's signal is weak, but I changed protocol and it vanished to the bottom of the list! Bingo! I'm paying £7 a month for the SIM. iPhone is paid off now.

Call me ungrateful, but what COVID handouts? I got none. I was not furloughed and the only handout I recall were the free test kits and vaccines that HMG gave us.

I went with lebara (vodafone network) £4.50 a month with 3GB of data, 1000min calls, which is much more than I ever use. I got £16 worth of cashback by referring OH.
