I couldn't be resting easy if I knew an animal was in trouble. If RSPCA won't help there are other avenues. You can go to the council and put a noise complaint in - they will then investigate and they have more powers than the RSPCA.

Literally a dozen neighbours have lodged complaints. The council refuse to take things further.

Before all this happened, I'd have said the same as you, but once your big burly next door neighbour threatens you, its a bit sobering. Walk in my shoes, please.

Yeah, I do appreciate that, I think had I been threatened I would have gone to the police about it. Either that or all the neighbours band together and try to do something as a group - safety in numbers and all that, perhaps.

That's very weird, though, because I did the same with a neighbour who used to leave his dogs out all night when he was stoned and the barked until the wee hours. The council sent a letter to him about noise and it all stopped.

Just updated my Advance Decision. Mother in Law is currently on palliative care due to multi organ failure and other illnesses and is nil by mouth. We were urged to rush to hospital in the early hours of Saturday, she is currently rallying. Her care in hospital has been mostly good, although despite being NBM she keeps being brought meals and the whole NBM thing is due to aspiration twice in the last few days, good job we have been around to refuse the meals on her behalf. It appears that staff handovers are not as they should be and are several days behind with her current situation. Parents in Law have apparently never discussed their end of life wishes and my husband and his brothers are pretty clueless about their wishes, end of life stuff etc. Husband has POA which I suggested and there is a will in place but lack of communication between the brothers and their parents has made everything so difficult and complicated. I have said this before and will say it again, please get your house in order whilst you are able to.

My thoughts are with you and yours at this time.
Two is one and one is none, but three is even better.

Yes I feel for you my attached neighbours are awful I went to council 10 yr ago it caused hell and didnt help..the woman from council went round ..its classed as a closed case..but my mental health since..im surprised im still standing..its awful when its bad between neighbours..im wanting to sell and have to declare it so thats why a lot dont do it...lose money on home but what bothers some may not bother another..its a case of wanting someone with 15 kids 8 dogs and 6 quad bikes to buy it ! But that's my inner demon thoughts 😈
It gets you mentally though ..and as I'm walking in your shoes I really get it ... it can drive people insane
I got myself a white noise machine for the nights it somewhat helps ...

Sorry you're going through it too, GeeGee - ten years! I've had three :( your "inner demon" thoughts are exactly the same as mine! I started preparing to sell because of this last year, but I realised with the whole declaration thing, no one would buy it. And they could well be coming round when the barking gets particularly intensive. I haven't tried a white noise machine yet - the same neighbours have a tv attached to the party wall in the bedroom, which impacts me of course - it could help. I'll have a think, thank you.

Adding my thoughts to those of others, Medusa. I hope there is peace and kindness in these days.

My mum told me recently she wants to be DNR. I need to suss that out. She can do a living will. I'd have to print and post it. Doesn't do internet. Also there is power of attorney to think about.
