Tax done and paid. At least I thought I paid it. I approved it in the banking app. But it's not showing. Takes 3 days to show on the HMRC site. Maybe I was supposed to jump through another hoop after doing it on their site, then scanning a QR code, then approving it on Firefox on my phone, and then on the banking app on my phone. Maybe there are 5 hoops, not 4.

Quick shop at Sainsbo's. No American products! Quorn on offer. Is owned by a Phillipines company, but originated in the UK. Posh pizza (fresh) for £2, having that!

Ordered some microfibre/velcro mop heads. Need to keep the hall clean so the new carpet doesn't get dirty. Especially as I'll be working on the front garden soon. Strict no shoes rule on the carpet obviously. Carpet looks a bit brown in this pic, but it actually has light blue, light grey, darker grey, and black (plus some brown).

View from the prep room. Wardrobe and upstairs lodger's room are out of view, to the left, as is my room. Walls look a bit pink in this pic, but they are not! It is Dulux Timeless, which is a very pale cream, almost white. Woodwork is same, but eggshell (water based, as it doesn't yellow with age).

Then, first bike ride of the year. Did about an hour, maybe bit longer. Didn't check what time I left. Backside was killing me. Cloudless blue sunny sky. Bit tired, didn't push it. I don't know if it's age, but last year I didn't ride as far as my epic ride with my mate to Lymm dam. But I think it's more motivating with someone else. He lives a long way away though, so not a regular thing.

I don't think my tax payment went out. I found a much easier way to do it. They list their sort codes etc, so it's just a quick transfer. Much easier than the gimmicky scan a sort code, get sent to a website that says it might not display properly, get sent to your bank app to approve, approve, then you think it's all done, but it doesn't go out. It wasn't much anyway, so if it did go twice it can come off next year's, or I can try and get it back.

I download a pdf, copy stored in the cloud. At some point it'll get added to backup drives via Time Machine (built in backup app). Also screenshot submission complete notice, and how much I owe. I screenshotted the bank payment as well.

About to push the button on some portable heat solutions - a small (ugly, but cheaper than the model that looks like a log burner  ) calor gas specimen and a bio ethanol table-top heater (thanks Yorkshire Andy for that tip).

I've never got into calor gas, mostly because I didn't see a way round here to get it to my house without begging a lift off someone, or timing myself to a bus that only runs 5 times a day (and is full of virus-ridden unmentionables). Now, with the car - different ball game. I've got my trip tomorrow planned, to a "pet and country store" 11 minutes in the car, deep in the countryside, with a pavement a foot wide where cars are racing by at 60mph a foot away from me. Car of my own much safer

Anyway, I won't be buying calor gas tomorrow, I don't know enough about it, but I'll be jumping onto the learning curve.

Sainsbury's have some apple trees for £16. I was thinking of sticking one in the back. But I need to wait til the gardener's got rid of the raised bed, as it will go there. I might plant some of those wild flower seeds around it. Probably sell out now I've said that.

Plant pot arrived. I was going to put the tree straight in, but the plastic pot wouldn't fit in, so I had to take it out. I only had John Innes No. 3, but should be ok. Gave it some water.

Also have a look at Flogas, they're one of Calor's competitors and I've found them much cheaper (and they tend to stock the smaller bottles we need for the camper).

Frnc: I was in the Range over the weekend and they had apple, pear and cherry at that price-point.The cherries were self-pollinating, don't know about the others ...... No reason why you can't buy now and leave it/them potted up for a few weeks
