My next big thing is to get more longjohns (winter is coming! and those lovely long sleeved vests that come with them. For the past few winters I have been making sure that I kept up with my washing loads to keep my only 4 sets on the rotation, but thats not always convenient, and what about power cuts and the like). Then its a question of making sure that I have all the pound shop batteries for all the torches and lanterny things, ensure I have olive oil for the olive oil lamps and then get back to doing massive tesco value shopping loads to make sure that I have tonnes of tins to keep me well fed, plus those almost catering sized packs of tea bags as if I run out of them it will be a pain. Also real coffee beans would be good, vacuum packed ideally. Also my sensitive toothpaste will be a bugger if the shops are closed due to bad weather. I have eaten my way through my stored food during short term times without money and now its time to replenish it all. Still haven't given up the electronic cigarette (but want to even though i am heavily addicted!). More medicines for the winter coughs and colds and a good selection of nutritional supplements to keep me on form. I still have the hot water bottles so thats sorted, and I have already stocked up on more gas bottles for the stove.
So I got plans! And I still haven't bought that extra electric heater I wanted...... Time to start to get my finger out.

Still bagging up salt :(. 25p/kilo from Tesco. Buying 8 at a time so's not to invite comment at the checkout (surprised 8 hasn't raised eyebrows, but I have my "making salt dough with the Rainbows" story ready just in case:). So cheap, so I couldn't be bothered comparing with other shops. Going through the freezing, drying, bagging, oxygen removing process, just to be sure (going to be in that bucket for a long, long time, I hope :)). I love it when I can do it and forget it.

I used to buy salt in bulk from work. That price compares well at Tesco tbh Feisty. Keep going! :D

Thanks Jansman :). White sugar is next and I'm glad I did some research, because, contrary to what I would have thought, you shouldn't vacuum seal or use oxygen absorbers with sugar (have done all of the above with salt and can't find anything to say not to). Will be freezing it and non-vacuum sealing the sugar into the bags that came with my free (freecycle) heat sealer and then storing in the buckets. Just shows, even though you're getting the hang of prepping, you should check and double check before you either waste a whole lot of money or potentially kill your nearest and dearest with botulism. :o Will be concentrating on white sugar and I've already been buying jars of honey. I'm hoping they will keep longer than the use by dates, because we actually don't use much! The other thing we are buying like it's going out of fashion is hazelnut chocolate spread and hazelnut chocolate, since the news reports that the hazelnut harvest was down by 70% this year (£3.50 for a large bar of Cadbury's Wholenut is already a King's ransom!) and all sorts of things, including cereals with hazelnuts, would shoot up in price in the near future. I hope it's not a very clever ploy by the "Hazelnut Co-operative" (I made that up :)) to get people to panic buy lots of fattening and unnecessary produce just in case their children turn into zombies for the lack thereof! BTW, one of my preps will have to be one of those little garden trolleys, since I am little and these buckets are about half my weight when they're full! Happy prepping, everyone!

Ive been down to the local bootsale and picked up an old tobacco tin to make into a survival tin for the old man, he likes going hillwalking all over the country so just incase! Picked up a whetstone too for maintaining the beast and putting an edge back on the mora :( seeing as the only stone i bought was my puck in my bob. Earlier in the week i ebay'd 50 steritabs, laplander, millbank bank and a little folding wood stove. Just a cheap dd tarp and bivy bag to find now.

I've had mishap resulting in a few cracked ribs and a mild concussion. Quite an experience and a reminder I'm not as bouncable as I once was. I'm seriously beaten up but A&E were wonderful. The positive is that I'm working my way through my med preps and reviewing my post injury preps in general.

Now to fetch some more foraged apples to make apple sauce - I'll be doing that tomorrow when its tipping down :) After the fetching, its the planting new stuff in the back garden.
