Currently doing a load of basil, I like to have a bush on the window sill for cooking and before it dies off I harvest all the good leaves. I've left enough on to do me a while but you get a lot of dried herb basically for nothing as when its dying off it all gets wasted.

Shredded cabbage in atm for future soup mixes.

Big batch of Mint planned for tommorow.
Two is one and one is none, but three is even better.

Saw methods for and against on Youtube.

As this is to be used for soups with a long slow simmer; I deemed it unnecessary. YMMV.

My current soup mix:

290gms cabbage medley
65gms smoked cubed pancetta ( replace with jerky if going camping)
1 ham stock cube
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp tumeric
1 tsp curry powder
1 tsp chilli powder (optional)

Obviously, all the dry ingredients together in ziplock bag and the pancetta or jerky separate.

Add all ingredients to pot and fill with 1 litre water , bring to boil, then simmer for min 20 mins.

When made with fresh pancetta and cabbage I fry the meat first add the cabbage and fry for a minute then add the spices and water. Tastes better the second day. :)

Cheers mate, if you excuse the pun its given me food for thought. Up bothying in a couple of weeks so its a bit more civilised than my usual. I'm camping in Callum (if you excuse the extra pun) this weekend but it will be very basic because of the weather so not much scope for dicking around with the scran. I will be using plenty of dehyrdated veg this weekend though. :D

Started off with a small batch of 2 trays in the Excalibur.

Can't use it as a tea though cause of my diabetes and BP medication

Did some coriander through the week, one of those plants from Asda for 55p. Not sure what I'll do this week, still have to try tatties.

In between football I'm getting some half price mushrooms on the trays, lots of really big ones so the amount of stalk is quite small to the rest of them. They'll need doing sooner rather than later though, there's a reason they were half price.
