Briggs! Good to see you posting, and oh my word, you'll be into winter before you get mains leccy, I hope it can speed up a bit.

Lots and lots and lots of good news on here! I'm slogging away at bits and bobs, but like ukprepprgrl the shed attached to my house is now a priority, though it will all be done by builders. Lots of admin on finishing things off today, but tomorrow is the day I phone my builder.

Oh they also have 300g jars Nescafe and Nescafe decaff on offer @ £3.50 too. :)

We 'do' Costco but we're a lot more choosy than we were, we used to buy a lot but now we target and yeah, dhoby dust and tea bags are on our list. Bog roll, sides of salmon.... we buy our bevvy elsewhere now and cherry pick but we're fond of the place, its the only place I know where I can get my catering bottles of tabasco.

I am currently on a visit south to see relatives and I have been spending an awful lot of time hitting all the shops. Have topped up on the gas canisters from B&M, loaded up on clothes reduced in price, and found an excellent stall at a big car boot that was selling medical supplies.
30 sterile gauze dressing pads for a quid. Result.
Used ex-army (I think) boots, 2 quid.
Have also increased our battery mountain by buying AA and AAA from pound land.
I also found some good hard wearing cargo trousers in Primark on my last trip 'sooth' so I bought 2 more pairs.

When I get home this Friday, I'll be straight into the garden weeding round the onions and seeing if any more of my spuds have been lost to bunnies. Our garden seems to have become some kind of meeting place for the local rabbits. I am half way to getting us rabbit proofed, but at least I don't have to walk far with the rimfire to bag dinner.
Prepping for lifes little mishaps, and some of the bigger ones as well.

Our nearest Costco is almost 30 miles away so not really worth the joining fee and travel expense. When I see things that we regularly buy on offer I stock up.

Things for a flat dweller to accumulate prior to the onset of winter (yes, starting early!):

Blankets (might get a snuggie too!)
Bioethanol for the ethanol fire place and trangea
Gas cylinders for gas stove
new kettle for stoves
more charcoal rods for the charcoal hand warmer (which was very useful when camping)
a few chemical rechargeable hand warmers
replacement hot water bottle
new winter coat
boots (wellingtons)
a stock of pound shop umbrellas (why buy one for £15 when you can buy 15 for £15)
plenty of tea and sweeteners
Slowly increase stocks of beans and tinned potatoes in case I cant get to shops
Good selection of pain killers and anti allergy tablets
New thermal underwear (longjohns and long sleeved vests)
New clothes horses for indoor drying.
At least a weeks worth of nicotine replacement therapy to stop myself going bonkers if I cant get out to buy some. Lozenges and sprays

.... and maybe a sign that says "trick or treaters will be eaten"

We joined CostCo today. Local one isn't too far away. Made a point of getting a pass to be able to have a good browse around before we committed to joining. Seem to have a reasonable variety of goods, made a point of only buying stuff we used anyway, or would 100% add to preps & managed to stick about 98% to that plan with just a couple of "ooh that'd be nice" items.

I think if we can stick to that philosophy I can probably get at least 1 year / £25 worth of membership usage out of it anyway.

Items of note to me personally:

KitKats - 3 different kinds of multipacks on offer at 3 different price points, cheapest being a third of what I normally pay for them (I go through them regularly!)
Cans of Coke: OH refuses to drink from bottles (apparently "goes flat too quickly" yeah :-/ ) so that was about half what we normally pay.
Toilet rolls were on a seemingly good deal so grabbed a pack of 5 x 9 rolls
Washing powder/conditioner: Our usual brand was obviously cheaper in bulk.

I shall have another good browse at some point & keep an eye out for any deals that are applicable to us...

Last week and this week I have been setting up a small inside garden growing herbs, hoping to expand and have a constant supply throughout the year for the kitchen. Managed to also make my first batch of homemade citrus soap from olive, coconut oil and lard :)

Set up a monitor with a raspberry Pi attached which displays RSS feeds of current news and weather along with the RSOE EDIS map so that I can have a 24 hour situation monitor that I can check for quick information.

Also, starting a compost bin on my balcony which I plan to add food waste into (old veg, salad, gone off foods). Do people have some info on the do's and dont's of a food waste compost bin? :)
