Raz, I love that bearscough! I have to wear a scarf almost as high as that on my face in any case, because of shingles after-effects, so it would be almost business as usual for me. Its a clever idea, I must say, though if people are supposed to renew their protection every 40 minutes, I'm not sure how useful it will be. Still, I bet most people who bought it "better than nothing" ...
For my prepping - I'm working on tidying and upping stocks for winter, and also trying to get *all* my finances online. Some bits are a bit stubborn ...

Forgot to say I also bought a paper briquette maker, partly because our recycling bin is always overflowing and partly for the burning aspect.
Anybody know if you can use cardboard as well as paper or is it for paper only?

Re: What Preps are you doing this week
Have been restocking the "pandemic kit" since my lengthy flu outbreak in August depleted a number of medicinal items! Today I ordered a few Tyvek suits. I have other protective stuff like gloves, FFP3 masks, goggles, plastic sheeting, and sanitizers but realised I'd never actually got around to ordering any suits. I ought to replace the bottles of thin bleach too (6 months old) - no need to crack open the pool shock stores until there's a desperate need for it...
But my favourite purchase this week is a shiny brass Primus No.5 pressure stove - £15 from a junk shop, complete and all in working order! This thing is an object of beauty...as well as a very practical item! It is currently sat on a shelf in the living room, cunningly disguised as urban chic, next to an equally shiny "antique" Optimus pressure lantern.

Re: What Preps are you doing this week
Just got contacted on Twitter by a Sun journalist, asking me if she could interview me on a piece about prepping for Ebola.
I politely declined.
Anyone else ever been approached by any TV Shows or Journalists about prepping ?
I don't really like the way we are portrayed in the media, So I don't think I could ever see myself taking up an offer of that kind.
Unless I had some kind of control over what is put out into the public... Which I know does sound very communist esque of me
I know some of the Youtube guys have done well by being on radio stations and TV shows but I often wonder how much ridicule and vulnerabilities come along with the 5 minutes of fame and that few quid in the back pocket comes with.
As much as I will discuss prepping with other preppers and people who are interested in prepping, I don't think I would ever nationally expose me and my preps like that.
What do you guys think on the matter ?
I would love to hear.
Part of the fear is being made to look like a whack job
The Stigma.
the fear of local non preppers potentially knowing that I prep.
my own morals and conscience is a big part as well.
Its an awkward one isn't it.
Yes its great to spread the word and encourage people to prep.
I do think it comes with a lot of downsides as well though.
Looking forward to hearing your responses guys and girls.

Having food, water and shelter are not a right.
They are a responsibility.
So make it your priority.

Eeek!!! No way! Personally I just couldn't trust any press and it would be damaging for family. Just my opinion though.
Behind every great man is an even greater woman. She carried you, raised you and made you who you are.

Totally agree, I'd never do that. How did they know to phone you, Tolerance?
Prepping for me - the bills I was trying to get online are now online, saves unnecessary exposure to winter viruses, and is cheaper too. And I've made one last harvest - quince jelly tis very lovely, though not pink as the recipe describes, more orange

Very nice, lighting cooking and heating all covered.
Two is one and one is none, but three is even better.
