What Preps are you doing this week

Just got contacted on Twitter by a Sun journalist, asking me if she could interview me on a piece about prepping for Ebola.

I politely declined.

Anyone else ever been approached by any TV Shows or Journalists about prepping ?

I don't really like the way we are portrayed in the media, So I don't think I could ever see myself taking up an offer of that kind.
Unless I had some kind of control over what is put out into the public... Which I know does sound very communist esque of me

I know some of the Youtube guys have done well by being on radio stations and TV shows but I often wonder how much ridicule and vulnerabilities come along with the 5 minutes of fame and that few quid in the back pocket comes with.

As much as I will discuss prepping with other preppers and people who are interested in prepping, I don't think I would ever nationally expose me and my preps like that.

What do you guys think on the matter ?

the fear of local non preppers potentially knowing that I prep.
my own morals and conscience is a big part as well.

Its an awkward one isn't it.
Yes its great to spread the word and encourage people to prep.
I do think it comes with a lot of downsides as well though.

In the dailymail yesterday they had interviewed some "Prepping" chap, turns out he has a shop selling items....
Just like fight club I say the first rule of prepping is "you don't talk about prepping", rule two.... you get the jist.

Journo's love to make us look like fruitcakes who are prepping for a zombie apocalypse, I would stay well clear. There is no real benefit to you but plenty of negatives, not least your name being plastered around for all to know where to go in times of need.

Seems to be standard training for journalists . "Normal" people put on tv or in the press are always made out to be something of a looney tune. (God awful) programmes like "Wife Swap" pair up couples that will generate the most friction and argument rather than just getting along. I also re-enact and there have been occasions where others have been made to look at best weird and at worst almost complete nutters so much so that we are very cynical and wary and generally respond with " go away " or words to that effect.

My GHB is coming along nicely. I intended to have it reasonably stocked by Christmas but I think that may be stretching it a bit.
Also my GHB is is probably going to double up a wild camping resource bag too.

I've been skirting round the issue of prepping with my old man and I can see us both getting into prepping the house some more. Right now our food stores are low and wouldn't be able to do much if there was a major incident in the area. We live on a flood plane and it did flood extensively back in 2007. We rode it out then but i'm not sure we could now.

I have one I plan to use it to attract help if needed take flooding trapped up stairs to signal to sar helicopters (see boscastle flooding footage) where people were winched out their homes or to attract attention of air ambulance etc

Been to home bargains, got some coffee sachets, coffee refill packs, toothpaste, more tablets for hay fever, ibuprofen, paracetamol etc.then I found a mushroom growing kit £1.99, a 72 led battery light with a fold down hook and magnets on the back £3.99, a smaller version for £2.99 and a big bag of soda crystals.

Got in the car, drove to local shops for milk and the car refused to start... RAC called out and the blasted fuel pump is broken, a tow home gratefully received and waiting for garage to call with a quote. What should have been a 2 hour trip out turned into 6 hours

Dinner will be a very quick one tonight, so peeved!!

Thats a point! Improvising something like that in emergency situations, I'd be bound to set the house on fire by mistake

You can make even a small LED light work better for attracting attention by placing it on a silver foil blanket for the refelection.


This week I have mostly been buying warm kit, Softshell jacket and Softie Pile trousers.

Also blagged a few pouches to make seperate water, shelter, fire, food (gathering) kits. Contents to follow elsewhere soon...
