"I'm in the market for a single AA battery one, and one that converts into a headlamp without adding a bulky strap. Like, one with a strong but lightweight elastic band"
I had something like that years ago, it was just a head sized piece of inch wide elastic, with 2 loops of elastic sewn on one side, you poked a torch about the size of the AA maglite through the loops to make it a simple head torch. Easy enough to make yourself.

Regarding an EDC radio, and regarding choosing the right EDC phone, Google updated Android last time it was available and they removed my radio feature. Idiots! I've been living without it but didn't like that they would do that and that's another good reason to carry the second phone. It has a radio that will never be removed (because Google don't update it anymore).

Anyway, I was able to acquire with a little google searching the apk file I needed to restore my radio to my LG G3. I'm not sure if it's specific to the phone, but if anyone needs it I'll try and point them in the right direction.

Also, regarding my desire to have an AA capable torch - looks like I had one all along! I bought several of these for a quid each a couple of years ago and stashed them all around the house. Then I ended up with more since my father-in-law used them as stocking fillers for my family last year.

This is the type - highly recommend them. Super cheap and seem to be very good quality. I've also bought a couple of dozen of those battery adapters to make the battery compartment more versatile (since I have more aaa batteries than aa).

I've got stacks of those wee cree torches, I've given a couple of the 3 mode ones away to neighbours so I can justify to myself buying more 1 mode ones. For the price they're brilliant for everyday use/carry.

I'm courious why you'd give away a 3 mode torch for a 1 mode, I have the same 1 mode but I'm waiting for the 3 modes versions to arrive, what am I missing?
Also where did you get the AAA to AA addaptor gadget? Could be handy.

I don't think it was this seller, but he's 12 of 'em delivered for £1.65. I store all my spare eneloops in these things. They're well good.

You're right dude, I think I'll drop the one out of my wallet and start clipping this to my belt instead. See how that works out. It's bigger, but it works well for 99% of any tasks I think I'll encounter and if it got lost or damaged I wouldn't really care.

The main reason I want it to be AA and AAA compatible is that my Goal Zero solar charger only has AA batteries with it these days. I like less stuff and more versatility, me.

The reason I'm wanting the one mode on/off version is I don't need the strobing function and can't really think of an occasion when I've went for the low setting. You have to cycle through the functions to get to the one you want, not a deal breaker but if I can get the one function jobbies for less than 2 quid a pop then that'll do for me.

The adaptors from AAA to AA are available on Ebay and Amazon etc, I'm waiting from a batch from China although I'm unlikely to need them. I've gone for the slightly pricier ones from Amazon, only because I don't like Ebay.

You can't have too many torches, why drop the wallet one. :D

I've got a thrunite ti2 attached to the SAK I always have in my pocket and I generally have one of the cheapy cree's in my coat pocket at all times. I've got the torch app on my phone too, and if I'm expecting to be away any length of time then I start to prepare.

I do enjoy a good torch. Or ten. I've got several around the house and I always have two on my person (the Ti2 in my wallet and the Energiser one on my keys). I was getting to the point of ridiculous with he amount of crap I was carrying with me everywhere. Remember this fake Maxpedition Remora EDC I used to use? I had this at the bottom of my backpack for nigh on four months while I was learning about the subject. It weighed about the same as a small hippo.

Now I'm trying to carry as little as possible but still have the functionality of Macgyver. I've got a drawer that's by the front door and I've got all my EDC stuff in there. If I know I'm going somewhere, I'll bring back up stuff or things that I wouldn't ordinarily need. The stuff in that draw is becoming quite comprehensive.
