Why just preppers who have firearms ? There are plenty people out there who have legal firearms who wouldn't consider themselves preppers. As for other tools etc, even more so. I have all sorts of tools etc that are sharp/pointy/heavy, I've also got a kitchen that is full of implements that could ruin somebodies day if they were misused, most households do.Rudolf wrote:Hello - sorry, I've not been responding to these messages, I've been covering Belgian terrorists in Brussels and I was thinking about how one could have prepared for Paris?
Additionally - do you think Paris has had an impact on how people understand personal responsibility and preparing for worst case scenarios?
Yes, it's true, we have a paywall - I'm very sorry about that. My name is Stefanie Marsh and you can see my Brussels/Molenbeek article top three pars. Rudolf was the first thing that came into my mind.
What do you think of preppers who have firearms and other tools that could be used as weapons (except pocket knives)?
I still don't understand why there are so few women preppers, as far as I can see from the people I have talked to.
Thank you for that Mumsnet link - I was really surprised to see it, and had no idea.
Any more thoughts welcome. Thank you for all your help so far.
Women preppers ? I was surprised by the number on this site, when I joined I assumed it would be mostly dudes, I've learned a lot from some of the women on here. A quick read will let you know that there are plenty active on the forum so unless you're trying to put a square peg in a round hole, you should be able to get a feel for their input.
Not exactly what you're after I think but a friend of mine wouldn't dream of calling himself a prepper but in everything but name he is. I only heard the term myself about a year or so ago (about when I joined this site) but realised I had been one all my life in one way or another. Just trying to point out that the term 'prepper' is such a catch all term, it covers someone who likes to have a full cupboard through folk with camping/walking gear all the way through to the oddballs who can't wait for the Apocalypse (in whatever their favoured way). Its easy to guess which ones get the more column inches. A campaign to encourage people to keep a weeks worth of water and food in the house isn't particularly interesting but if that was your angle you'd probably get more interest from most on here. If you haven't already, have a good look around the forum, you'll see our interests are broad and not everyone is into all of it, 'prepping' really is a broad church.
