There's already one called a Zombie, well known cocktail but there's a pub near me that specialises in rum and they do one that absolutely lethal, at least half of it is spirits but there's enough fruit juice that you don't notice, they use overproof rum in it as well, takes your head off, they won't sell you more than two because they got tired of cleaning up after the people that can't handle it!Deeps wrote:I'm digging the notion of post apocalypse cocktails. No worries, if you like that kind of thing then I've made a how to video for blackberry whisky as well, I'll do one for the vodka but this was the first time I tried it and I don't like to share a method until I know it works, you've missed the blackberries this year but it's not hard to remember so it will probably stick for next year, there's a link to my channel in my signature.
I've already posted the link to the video so you can probably find it with a search, although it will be easier from my channel page.
I use the same method of filtering for both of them, although the vodka all went through one filter paper, the blackberry whisky needs several, the blackberries clog it up faster.

Just picked the last of the beans - had brilliant crops. Some blackberries still to salvage. Otherwise that's it for my allotment this year. One more batch of pickling and jam making and then I'll settle down to making some new art and recordings until Spring

In an effort to pre-empt any early frosts I harvested 1kg of chillies from my 6 patio plants yesterday Deseeded (seeds saved for next year) chopped and dehydrated. More than enough for me for a year!

Squash is all in now.The spaghetti marrow has not been so prolific this year, but with the marrows there's enough for the two of us until Christmas time- ish.The runner beans and Blue Lake beans are drying nicely.
Plenty of greens to go at,kale ,cabbage, spinach etc.Leeks are good and salads doing well in the greenhouse. All in all a successful season.

Re: What are you harvesting?
Been a funny year for me the apples, stawberries, raspberries and plums have been really good but yet again the courgettes are rubbish.
The squashes, toms and salad have been good croppers and I think I have finally got the hang of cucumbers and i've got actual melons well 3 of them but now theres going to be a frost and there in a green house(not heated) so not sure if they will make it to picking.
All my spuds are done in bags and have cropped well and I have enough stored to last till next year,
Gonna make Rubbarb Gin this year from my crop, but will add a bit of ginger, to the mix.

Been 'harvesting' brambles and hazelnuts, I've maybe left it a week or two late to get more hazelnuts but I've enough to have a practise run this year and hopefully I'll get a few more still.
Re: What are you harvesting?
The summer crops have just about done, I may get one more picking of french beans. We had a frost so I think that'ss about it. The winter veg are looking good, Kale is ready to pick and sprouts, purple broc and parsnips going well. The Borlottis were still going when I looked on tues, so am waiting for them to start dying back before I harvest the beans. They look magnificent with their maroon and green/white pods! can't wait to get them in the kitchen.
