Been spending a fair bit of time up the allotment recently. Her Maj has got in onion, beetroot, carrots and broad beans while I've been putting in a patio and replacing some of the posts. I did turn over the beds for her too, good guy that I am.
Tatties and Gawd knows what else still to go in.

Owing to a move in the offing, I gave up my allotment a little while ago, but I'm still growing!
I've transplanted as much of the Garlic as I could fit into a couple of these...
They are great. I grew some cracking beans, spinach and peas in them last year and I plan to do the same again.

That's really good going. Asparagus can be a bit temperamental to germinate.ukpreppergrrl wrote:My seed sown asparagus is up! 11 out of 12 seeds It's sooooo cuuuute! Teeny tiny perfect asparagus. I know it's probably better to buy crowns but I like growing stuff from seed.

Oh cool! I feel better about some of my other failures now The packet said to keep it at 25-30C which is very warm compared to most seeds so I kept it on a sunny windowsill above a radiator (which has been on pretty much all the time until this week as it's been so parky!). Evidently it was the correct temperature! It's now basking in 25C full sunshine on the patio...where it's undoubtedly actually considerably warmer than 25C at this precise moment. Feels like full summer out there today!Brambles wrote:That's really good going. Ooh! Make that 12 out of 12! The last one popped up overnight. These babies clearly like it HOT to germinate.

The first batch of beans are in the soil now, and the rest won't be far behind. The broccoli is coming along nicely, and the main crop spuds are chitting merrily away. The tomato seedlings are a bit slow out of the blocks though.
