I watched some YouTube videos regarding what targets Russia is likely to hit and it looks like Russia will hit about 10 targets because the number of nuclear warheads was significantly reduced during the last days of the USSR.
So, maybe there is a chance of survival and not all areas will be polluted by radiation. Do you think the government will be evacuating population from the affected areas? Because, if they do, then there be no need for particularly large stock of food etc

If Vlad does decide to launch, I hope he does it at the end of the season, my team East Fife are five points clear at the top of our league!

Being serious, there will be a lot more than 10 targets. But playing the game here, where would I be evacuated to? The infrastructure isn’t there in the borders for the folk in Edinburgh, nor the Highlands which would likely be contaminated by the fallout from the ground and airbursts at Faslane and Coulport. Scotland is about 2/3rds the size of England with about 4m in the central belt but very few roads into the areas we would have to decamp to. That many people up there would probably lead to famine as the government or what is left of it would not be able to feed us. That’s me in Edinburgh, now where is everyone from England going?

If Russia launches, deterrence will have failed. God help us all if that happens.

Pick the largest City or Military Base closest to you:

https://outrider.org/projects/nuclear-b ... -simulator

Start at the lowest size of nuke and work upwards it'll show

Fireball
Heatwave
Shockwave
Radiation

Plan accordingly.
Two is one and one is none, but three is even better.

I doubt (what's left of) our government would evacuate one bombed out zone to somewhere less bombed out. There'd be mandates to restrict travel and self migration would be impractical because of congestion and a degree of being 'unwelcome invaders'
The overall policy of 'Protect and survive' doctrine is to tell us to shelter in place.
Also even one nuclear strike on the UK would so enormously disrupt our food delivery that with or without government saying so, there would be shortages in even the most fortunate areas.
Unless we know which areas will be targeted, then we might be glad to have stocked food in case the government ships refugees into our area and obliges us to share with them.

I use the term 'government' but in a SHTF wartime situation, we'd have region controllers, vigilantes, committees and all sorts of feudal gangs coalescing on the topic of resource sharing.
