I totally agree with you, good point. Thanks for your valued input here.

Contrary to what some would have us all believe - There is absolutely NOTHING wrong discussing this subject when it's done so in a balanced adult way. Closing down discussions like this one is a favourite tactic of the liberal hand-wringing left and we should all resist it with utmost vigour. This is the way they close down discussions on things like immigration etc (accusing us all of being bigots). :o In my experience these people are some of THE most intolerant unpleasant people I have come across. Everything is hunkydoory until you start to disagree with their wharped ideas...

If there are any preppers here local to Kent, I would be happy to show you the ropes and encourage you? I possess firearms (shotguns and .22LR rimfire rifles) for pest control (mainly rabbits). Recently I have often used my airgun where it's unsafe to shoot liveround...
I would also be happy to assist Modplod as I have held both firearms and shotguns for 30 years. I also have my own land where we can shoot.

Perhaps they were trying to prevent innocent people from being slaughtered? I don't think so, they don't give a toss about you and I. To them we're merely tools for their own ends. Like worker bees - when we have served our purpose (paying for their lifestyles), they simply leave us to wither & die (have you had to rely on the NHS of late).

A government that denies it's citizens the right to properly defend themselves deserves to be overthrown.

Well just booked a probation night early march at a local target rifle club. Looks great, also has air rifle ranges which I am interested in also and will be a good way to learn properly, in the right environment before going for my FAC later in the year.

They also have an armoury storage so I won't need to store any potential gun in my home as the wife won't let me :)

But we do have the right to defend ourselves, just as we have since the signing of the Magna carta, just because I don't have an FAC or a SGC (at the moment) doesn't mean that I cannot defend myself. Also if you read any of the US sites you will find that we have no guns in the UK because we are Subjects rather than citizens because we have a royal family

I was brought up from an early age with firearms, spending many happy hours on the ranges firing anything I could, both full bore, small bore and SG. Just don't want to have one at the moment due to current location, maybe oneday when I get a chance I'll go for those tickets

The Criminal Law Act 1967 merely gave us the right to defend ourselves by using ONE degree of force above that being offered (including in the right circumstances, lethal force). It did NOT give us the right to carry the means to achieve it when faced by an armed bad guy.

At the present time my advice to anyone coming up against a bad guy with a knife or gun is to simply run like ****!

If you are ever faced with explaining why you killed a bad guy to defend yourself, remember to say that you didn't know what you were doing because you were in genuine fear of losing your own life! Stick to this version ridgedly and you should be okay...

So we do have the right to defend ourselves, glad we cleared that bit up MP ;)

As for means to defend ourselves, well when does going equipped to defend become going equipped to attack? When does a defensive weapon become an offensive one? surely they are both the same thing :?

That's my point, we have no right to be equiped to defend ourselves. :o

Our women aren't even permited to carry Mace spray or Pepper spray to defend themselves against rape! Why not allow non-lethal defensive tools like this making it clear that anyone using these things unlawfully will be severely punished (in the same way people holding FAC/SGC can already be punished). Then again severe punishment isn't possible any more - our strongest punishment (prison) is like going on  holiday...

Just an idea but say if you just wanted a handgun in the home for defense what if the police allowed some people to have them but with no access to ammo? I mean a bad guy faced with a gun would run a mile surely?? And none of us would really ever want to shoot a human anyway right?

Could this work? Could ammo be made yourself? Also if the bad guys knew this it would make the whole thing pointless?

Just some ideas to put forward I'm undecided on the whole thing at the moment.

:D
