BG Homecover to the rescue.

Medical conditions bumped me to a home visit today, although they may not have the parts until Tues/Weds. That's fine at least I am in their system, now waiting for the Engineer to arrive.
New motherboard fitted and working fine, have booked a visit to discuss a new boiler, mines at 15 + years so reaching it's end despite annual services (£400 Homecare)
Two is one and one is none, but three is even better.

I got quite a good deal with 24/7 Staywarm. New boiler for about £2,200 installed, Ideal Combi 35. Plus 10 years of cover and service for a fixed price of £13.70 a month. I think it includes parts and labour for the full 10 years. I can have the service done by them or Ideal. Still got the old radiators and pipes, 25 years old. My gas use has gone down.

Snagged 2x energiser weather ready lanterns in Tesco for £12.50 each reduced from £25...

Same as this

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Energizer-Weat ... B07DKGRQ3L

Which is a eye watering price

Runs on 3xaa or 3x d cells
i really like this lantern very well made and made from decent plastic
If your roughing it, Your doing it wrong ;)

Lack of planning on your part doesn't make it an emergency on mine

Am reading some hilarious but interesting stuff. Grok is saying (I'm paraphrasing) "they tried to programme me towards their views, but I seek the truth, so it didn't work!"

IT'S ALIVE!

Maybe there is hope yet.

Ordered 5 x Spice Tailor Chickpea Masala, 13 on Amazon is a good price. The shelf life is at least a year. Chickpeas are a good protein source. Also ordered 2 new fence panels. Honeysuckle was hiding the damage it had caused. They lasted about 20 years anyway.

Just had some prep food. I have 3 packets of Al'Fez falafel mix coming up to expiry in a couple of months so I mixed one up and fried half. Will have the other half tomorrow. It's pretty nice. Good source of protein. Would be nicer in a wrap with salad, hummus and tahini, but I just had them on their own.

I've just put in a big order from Healthy Supplies (dessicated coconut, sunflower seeds, walnuts, avocado oil (I drizzle), strong bread flour to experiment with sourdough, and I'm trying a falafel mix for an Airbnb holiday coming up soon.

Well worth doing! Not just for the taste, but it makes things easier to digest and helps release nutrients.

I can't tolerate high gluten modern wheats and fast action yeasts, but I get on fine with ancient grains that have had the sourdough treatment. Spelt/Einkorn/Emmer/Khorasan are much more expensive but I need to eat far, far less of them to be full!

Had to plane down a new fence panel, as the gap between the posts was about 5mm too small. Fortunately I have an electric plane. Ordered some preservative, and that came today, so I painted the bare wood at each end. Should be dry and in tonight.

Got a quote in person from a tree surgeon, agreed to price (£480) to trim ivy. Should be reasonable, if they cut a decent amount off. Got permission for them go go next door, as the bulk of it is actually over their garden. I think it grows over the roof of a disused shed/garage behind my house, so I expect they'll leave most of that, but I probably won't be able to see it.

Not sure my little anti-intruder bushes will survive. Might have to plant some more. Found out the new builds' gardens don't come up to mine, so behind mine is a school car park, which a burglar could easily get into at night. It was confusing, because they've demolished the dividing wall, and parked cabins in the school grounds, behind my house.

New builds are off to the side, with back gardens coming up to next door's. They are 4 bed, but not huge. I don't think the gardens are bigger than ours. £700,000!

So, what spiky bushes grow fast in the shade?
