Racey....... Silk or Satin ?

If your ceiling is old (lath and plaster) chances are you're right with distemper (water, chalk, optional pigment and glue size) or possible limewash (water and lime putty, with optional pigment if whitewash isn't your thing).
Try a Hoover before washing as lime can bleach and chalk is a pig to get out of fabrics. BTDT

Cotton. Reason I got black is.... I have a 43" tv over the end of my bed. At night, I watch it in the dark. It's like a cinema. If it's still daylight, the blinds and curtains make the room dark. But the light from the TV lit up my bed sheets when they were white, causing a distraction, so I went dark. I'd like the walls a bit darker too, but they don't get as much light off the tv.

My little hand vac wasn't picking it up very well, was taking too long, so I shook it outside then washed it. I think my other sheet has one or two marks from the stuff, but it's not too bad. Ceiling's been patched now, so there won't be any more.

Did a small food prep this morning, just tuna, tomato puree, and long life naan breads. The naans only have 2 or 3 months shelf life, but that's ok. I eat them within that time no problem. I don't keep loads, just 2 or 3 packets of 2. I have more curry, as it has longer shelf life. Curry is Spice Tailor, extremely nice. Sainsburys have stopped doing my favourite types, so I've got them off Amazon, 5 for a decent price. Am getting 5 more in a few days, so I'll have about 10, which makes 20 meals. They do loads of different types.

I'm light sensitive and I get 'light pollution' too, white(ish*) walls in the bedroom, a digital alarmclock plus Herself using her phone to get back to sleep mean that I have to use a blindfold.

I'm not allowed to remove all the electricals, use dark sheets or paint the walls black because I'm no longer a teenager with Gothic tendencies

I have light sensitive eyes. I had an eye disease for about 20 years.

Black bedding is pretty mainstream these days. I won't paint my walls very dark, I was thinking just one wall that my TV's on maybe a subtle green or a mushroomy grey. Dulux Calming Meadow is my current choice. The rest gets done in Timeless, which is a very pale cream, almost white.

Thats not good, is it stable or will it get worse?

I used a mushroom grey in my old bedroom...... I think its nice, light without being stark white. Warm without being pink.

Preps wise: Looking to buy a stove (or three  ) and sorting the 2025 dated cans to the front of the cupboard

Discharged, touch wood. Few years ago. Consultant said he'd hardly ever discharged anyone. It's left pernanent scarring, so my eyes are rubbish for fine detail. Eyes are still light sensitive. Still got floaters, but so used to them I never notice. But off the meds for several years.
Worst was when they were going to inject my eye socket. This clumsy nurse was in there. I was about to refuse, when she walked out and a doc came in. Only had that done twice. Some blood tests were worse. Some real amateurs and some experts. Eye hospital shouldn't have people who can't take blood painlessly.

On another topic, my decluttering, I put a draughtsman's 'perch chair' and standing desk on Gumtree. I rarely used them. I plan to try moving my bed, so I can sit on the edge of it to use my computer, so I'll still get back exercise.

And if upstairs lodger moves out, I can move in there without tons of crap.

This is how bad my eyes are. The sun (which is now way over the other side of the house) was reflecting off the music school windows, where an orchestra is practicing behind my back garden. My blind is down, tilted up, closed tight. But you know the little holes in the middle for the string? It was firing straight through those into my eye, really bright. Had to pull the curtain over it. Good job I have both. I got the curtains more for the morning sun, this evening thing doesn't happen often.

Just posted something on X, and Grok reposted it! I tell you, IT'S ALIVE!

Put a hoody I never wear on Facebook, another step towards decluttering. Hopefully get some wonga for it, is rare band hoody from Japan. Band is Maximum The Hormone. They are as bonkers as they sound.

New fencing arriving tomorrow, the old one is rotten and falling apart which has made me a little twitchy as next doors garden is much less secure than ours and means that people wishing to could access our garden via theirs. New wood shed arriving on Wednesday, need to set that up and then can get rid of pallet city and chop the huge pile of logs which are seasoning beautifully. Once those are done we can get another load for free and will hopefully be set for winter and beyond. Our strawberries are already beginning to ripen, as are the the blueberries, the rasperry fruit is far more mature than normal and the fruit trees are currently showing huge crops which we are having to water every night. The water butts are already empty and we have just converted to a water meter and a little concerned how much water we are using so trying to be frugal with showers etc. as it has been a month since we have had any significant rainfall. Very sadly I have lost both in laws within 10 weeks so dealing with that, not assisted by one of the involved companies managing to lose the Power of Attorney paperwork which they requested.
